Mind's Eye Guide for The Sinking City

Reed has a supernatural ability called the Mind's Eye which allows him to find a rift into the past and see hidden signs across the city of Oakmont. When the game vignettes the corners of the screen it s a prompt to tell you that you need to use the Mind's Eye to acquire more information. This visual prompt is very subtle and can be easily missed so you will need to pay attention.

You will usually notice these distortions when you are exploring locations that are marked with a magnifying glass. When you notice the distortion on the corners of the screen press the Mind's Eye activation key and find the hidden trace. These will appear in the following forms:

• Reed willl be able to view signs (omens), these are shadow monsters that he can follow that will show him the way.

• Reed will be able to inspect items or areas more clearly, giving him a vision as to what they were used for.

• Any containers that you can open for items and crafting materials will be highlighted.

• Reed will be able to view symbols which when he aligns will reveal hidden secret passages or relics.

• Use Retrocognition, Reeds ability to see frozen silhouettes (see screenshot above) of characters that reenact the events that transpired.

When hidden pathways are revealed or the true form of certain relics are uncovered the traumatic break from reality will psychologically affect Reed so you need to try and ensure that his health and sanity are always in tip-top condition. You cannot keep Reed's Mind's Eye permanently active as it will slowly drain his Sanity Meter, if this becomes drained it will cause Reed to hallucinate or spawn shadow monsters that can damage his health.
