Investigating Tips for The Sinking City

The main objective in Sinking City is to investigate crime scenes and solve cases. This requires you to visit different locations to find clues, collect information, and lore which will help you piece togehter what happened. Check out our Investigating Tips Guide to find out how to do this.

Whenever you see the compass symbol it is to indicate that the clue leads you to a place that is connected to the crime scene and must be investigated. In every area there are two basic types of clues, these are those that are directly connected with your case and unless you have them you will not be able to progress further and those that are supplementary clues that will help you get more information and lore about the case. To be able to move on to the next phase of the current case, you have to find Key Evidence in every location which means that the icon of the location must be yellow. If whilst investigating you notice the corners of the screen start to vignette it is a prompt to use Reed's Mind's Eye. Check out our Mind's Eye Guide to find out more about this supernatural ability.

Whenever you see the book symbol it is a prompt telling you that the information about the cluse should be searched in the archive of a resource building. The following five resource buildings in Oakmont City will provide help during your investigations:

City Center:

Here you will be able to obtain information about addresses of different organisations and people.

Oakmont Chronicle:

Anything related to newspapers such as ads and published articles can be found here.

Police Station:

You will be able to find detailed reports here of all the criminals in Oakmont such as their addresses and criminal histories.

Library:

Here you will find information about all the books and publications as well as their authors.

Hospital:

Here you will be able to view the archives of patients and see what treatment they had for their wounds.

During your investigations you may also see symbols of 'three dots' or 'gears'. The first one indicates that you need to talk with someone while the second one tells you to use the previously found object. If all the clues you find lack any symbols it means that you must find key evidence in some of the places or use the Mind Palace.

'Mind Palace' will appear in gold at the right side of the screen once you have obtained enough clues about a case. When you access Reed's Mind Palace you will be able to view every hypothesis you've had so far and by using various combinations you will be able to unlock more deductions to the events that had transpired.
