In The Sinking City Reed has the ability to create new items from the different resources that he finds scattered around Oakmont. Check out our Crafting Guide in The Sinking City to learn more about this feature.
To start the process of creating a new item you must begin by clicking the 'Craft' button in the 'Inventory' tab. Then select the item you want to craft and check at the bottom of the screen to see if you have the required ingredients. There is a maximum amount of 20 pieces of each resource that Reed can have in his inventory which means that if Reed creates too many of an item it will not allow him to pick it up later when you find it while exploring due to having reached the maximum capacity.
To craft items in The Sinking City you need a blueprint for it. Blueprints are easy to get hold of, you will recieve one when you get a new item for the first time. It is advised that when you begin the game you venture into one of the infected areas and search for grenades and traps. Although this will be dangerous it is worth the risk as it will allow you once you find one of these items to create more with crafting materials as you will now possess the Blueprint for it.
You will be able to find loot that contains crafting materials by searching the containers you come across that are marked with white symbols, trash cans, and in the trunks of cars. The best loot will be found in the infected areas which is a dangerous proposition as they will be patrolled by more enemies. A safer option that will have less enemies is to find buildings marked with a white 'H' symbol on the doors that you can enter, this will still enable you to find more loot than if you just searched for containers in the city.
The loot containers you find that are marked with white symbols will replenish their contents over time. You can update the contents of the containers by simply going a considerable distance away from them and then returning. Another way is to save and reload the game. Keep in mind that the loot containers that you find in contaminated areas will also respawn the enemies that are there.
