The Xbox One & Special Challenges

When the Achievement System was first introduced with the launch of Microsoft's then brand-spanking-new Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE Social Gaming Network there was naturally a measure of confusion in terms of just what the function of this new system and its Achievements was, and just how far that new system would extend into the realm of social gaming....

Just where the lines would be drawn and whose hand would hold the crayon were questions that had yet to be answered, but time has a funny way of working that sort of thing out for itself, so today we know just where the answers can be found.

Bearing in mind that Achievements are rewards for completing special activities in a game or game series, and the fact that for the most part the actions that are required to earn Achievement vary from title to title, the fact that these are limited only by the developer’s creativity and imagination -leaves us with a working idea full of positive elements.

That said -- and adding in an Introduction of new and expanded Achievement-oriented content in the form of a Scheme based upon a combination of high-quality and ambitious new time-limited Achievements in the form of a dynamic “Challenges” System presents the players with a new collection of something to do -- and there ya go!

Note that ordinarily you must be connected to Xbox Live both to unlock Achievements and update the list of outstanding Achievements and or challenges, or boost your Gamerscore, If you complete the requirements for an Achievement or a Challenge while offline, it should officially unlock the next time that you find yourself connected to the network...

List of Achievement Challenges for The LEGO Movie Game

The arrival of a new LEGO game on new Video Game Console(s) is the sort of announcement that will promote genuine excitement in the LEGO gamer community, if not because it introduces a measure of good clean fun -- which it does -- then because the activity adds to the already historic measure of game play for the series and pursuit!

Not to dwell on the matter, but the Introduction of the new time-and-circumstance-limited Achievement-like Challenge System really does add a new dimension to the game and game play! That is pretty much all the introduction required, since you now understand the basic premise of the Challenge System, so hey, enjoy!

The current crop of Achievements and/or Challenges include (but are not actually limited to) the following based upon time remaining. . .

Special Challenge Goal: Collect 2 Billion Studs before the 30th June 2014

Special Challenge No. 1 Details: Early in the bod of the Walkthrough we mentioned a sort of attraction level to the whole process of LEGO Stud Collecting, which is an activity in the LEGO game series with some significant historical mojo in that the practice has existed going back to the first game in the series...

In games past everything from good and proper Achievements to unlocking game elements have been intentionally associated with Stud Collecting, so it is not as if they invented the activity for LEGO Movie or anything -- but still it is worthy of note. The goal of 2-billion studs may seem like a lot but bearing in mind that "cheats" multipliers (what would ordinarily be thought of as cheats) do not adversely impact either the activity or any related Achievements, it is all good!.
