In SnowRunner the winch is literally your lifeline when all else fails so it is important that you become familiar with how to use it as it is inevitable that at some point during the game you will have to resort to it to continue your journey. Check out our How to use the Winch guide to find out the best way to operate this piece of mechanical equipment that is attached to your vehicle.
Nearly all the vehicles in Snowrunner come equipped with a winch right from the start. It is a separate piece of equpment that does not work with your AWD or Diff lock. The purpose of a winch is to either move your vehicle to the place to which the winch is fixed or pull yourself with the winch itself. If you decide to use the winch to pull yourself you need to ensure that the object you latch onto weighs more than your vehicle otherwise you run the risk of ripping it out of the ground. You can also use your winch to pull other vehicles and objects in the game.
You can select the necessary point to fix the winch via the corresponding menu or you can just throw the winch to the nearest point by pressing a special button. Remember that the Winch is powered by your engine so it will consume additional fuel. You can switch different types of winches in your garage before you set out.
