How to get the Assault Rifle

One of the best weapons in Remnant: From the Ashes is the Assault Rifle due to its firing rate and accuracy. These attributes make it a great option when you need to deal with multiple enemies at medium range or eliminate enemies at a distance using the weapon's tap fire. In order to get the Assault Rifle you will need to have saved the Root Mother from the church. This is a woman that is trapped in a tree at the Chapel and part of the storyline. If you have not yet saved her you will need to continue playing until you do. Once she is saved head to the golden portal through the broken wall of the church.

When you move through the portal use the checkpoint to recover your health and ammunition. In this area is the dungeon you want, it's exact location will be different in every game. To find the entrance of the dungeon amongst the strange plants and water you need to look for a ramp that leads to a broken wall. Inside this area you will encounter a horde of enemies which you must deal with as you slowly advance through the dungeon. Eventually the path will branch and regardless of which path you take they will both lead you to the same place.

If you look at the map above you will see the layout of the dungeon. The white player marker is at the start, while the other checkpoint on the right side indicates the end. The red rectangle marks the location of the Monkey Key which is an item you need as it is used to open the door to the room that has the Assault Rifle inside. Once you have the Assault Rifle in your possession make sure you grab plenty of Iron so you can upgrade it to +5, although it should drop at +3.
