How to Use Ability Attacks in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

A frequently asked question in Marvel Alliance 3: The Black Order is 'How to Use Ability Attacks?' This page will tell you how to get them, how they work, and how to use them.

Each character in the game has access to four special skills. These abilities will unlock as you progress through the game but will not automatically get stronger. Once you have reached level 20 you will have unlocked all four abilities. To upgrade them you will need to manually invest AP which you will earn as you level up. When you upgrade skills you will lower their cost and upgrade their damage output.

Ultimately the abilites you choose will depend on your personal preference, after that it is a matter of upgrading them whenever possible. These four abilities unleash the most powerful attacks in the game and you should use them at basically every possible opportunity. To perform these attacks you need to hold down R (the bumper), and hit a face button (A, B, X, Y), and you'll perform a powerful Ability attack. To use an Ability Attack requires Energy Points (EP), you can see how many you currently have in the EP Gauge (the blue rings at the bottom left of your screen). EP replenishes slowly over time and is used quickly as you attack enemies.
