Tutorial - The Patron's Palace

Thank you for printing this page from www.SuperCheats.com. Remember to come back to check for updates to this guide and much more content for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Last Updated:

This will be a straightforward chapter focusing on tutorials, meant to (obviously) get you acquainted with the basics -- from combat, Field Exploration etc. Combat tutorials typically involve larger monsters such as the Anubys or something similar, so do engage them to try and find out more.

Lastly keep in mind that Lightning does not usually gain experience from regular battles but she does however earn gil and item spoils. That being said, go on through the palace's many linear corridors after an errant Snow. You can also browse through all the new entries in the menu screen.

Anyway, proceed and engage in battles to initiate tutorials starting with the ATB and schemata, followed by guarding, target switching, staggering and finally overclock, which slows down all enemies on the screen, Some of these should be familiar to you if played Final Fantasy XIII.

This is also a good place to hone your guarding/blocking skills as the enemies are still weak. Pulling off a perfect guard (blocking right before an attack connects) unlocks the Perfect Timing trophy.

Move along and you'll eventually run into obstacles that you can jump over, followed by some ladders that you have to climb. Hope will entertain you with constant radio chatter as you go along. Finally, you will encounter the game's first-ever boss, Zaltys near the end of the rather lengthy trail.

This boss has around 19000 HP on Easy and 24000 HP on Normal. Nothing too difficult here as the game pretty much tells you how to deal with him. Spam him with Blizzard (from the Dark Muse schema) until your ATB is empty, then quickly switch to The Savior and continue attacking with Thunder until Zaltys staggers. Use attacks while downed and trigger Overclock when prompted.

With the battle over, move a little further up to trigger a cut-scene where Hope beams Lightning back to The Ark, which ends your little tutorial escapade. The Savior's Descent trophy unlocked.
