How to get Skill Points

If you select the Survivability tab at the main menu you will see three areas that you can earn skill points by completing tasks. These areas are Gather, Craft, and Combat and you will be able to level up these skills and obtain new skills in each area. For instance, you level up the gather mastery by collecting plants and materials throughout the game. After repeating this process enough, you will level up and gain a skill point. The skill points are automatically applied to the specific area that they have been earned and any new abilities for your character pertaining to that mastery will also automatically unlock.

It is important that you constantly grind away at leveling up your Combat skills as doing so will allow you to access new areas of the game. The area levels that you unlock will be determined by your combat level with the best loot being available in the higher levels. You will be able craft more powerful weapons and things for your base by increasing your crafting level. Leveling up crafting comes from crafting as much as you can so it is recommended that you craft everything that you need to start making progress towards the better quality items.
