Unto the Breach

Briefing:

The Fell breached our outer defenses and disabled our Plasma Cannon. Scouts report that a massive enemy force is rushing to that location right now. We must restore the cannon's batteries to repel the enemy attack, or everything we've worked for will be lost.

Mission Objective:

Restore power to our Plasma Cannon.

Surprisingly, this stage is about the hardest stage in the 1st world. For one thing, the required missions are hard to accomplish, much more to hold the enemy numbers as the time passes by. In this level, you must precisely plan your method of advancing, and properly securing the bases you earned. The first leg of the mission, you are required to capture all the Etherium deposits in the given map. From the get go, you can have a maximum of 3 recruits in the game, given that you have the resources to purchase them. There is also a new mech in the options to check out. For the first part, take over the enemy encampment located east of your base. Taking over it is pretty straightforward and easy, the hard part is actually gaining full control of securing the site for long, as the barrage of enemies pushing back gets thicker by the minute.

What this means is that you'll have to switch gears and forcefully move on to the next base, and then the next, with nothing but basic towers to defend these bases. You wont have a minute to spare to earn the additional resources to beef up each of your bases defenses. For the most part, the idea is to grab ahold of all the bases in the map as fast as you can. First is the one east of your initial base, the second one is the one on the south, and finally, the base located in the north.

This is easier said than done though in the actual game. In reality, you'll still struggle maintaining control of the bases that you secured. You'll know you're in trouble when you can't seem to shake off the enemy numbers any longer. As the time passes by in this stage, the enemies starts to crank up their numbers and they become beefier as well. You'll have to be smart with your choices when building your defenses as well. Try to secure two upgrades on your towers whenever it is possible. There are two entry points for the fell army in this level too. On the south and on the far eartern part of the map. The group coming from the east divides on the forking road leading to the base on the center of the map and the one in the north. So it is best to secure a flamewalker to trim down the incoming horde on the fork.

It is also important to upgrade your bases so that they earn their shield generators first. This will help give your structures somewhat an additional armor. Also, it would feel like the enemies will be coming from all directions so maintain a number of ground troops on your first two bases. After claiming the base on the center, create a group out of a ranger team, a flamewalker and your hero and attack the base on the south. As they reach the enemy base, summon a mini turret in their proximity to help trim down the enemy numbers and focus capturing the etherium deposit. After securing the base, build towers to protect it, and fully upgrade them both to hold down the attacking enemies from the entry point near the south base. Also make sure purchase a shield generator on this base. As this is all happening, make sure that the initial base is protected from its north -- as the enemy will tend attack from this side.

Lastly, move two ranger teams and your hero to capture the remaining etherium deposit in the north. When you've finally built a refinery there, a countdown will start (approximately 1 minute 30 seconds) where in you'll have to secure your bases from the incoming fell horde. Make sure to hold your ground and maintain possession of the 3 etherium deposits to earn victory in this level. Situate your forces in the fork (leading to the base on the center and on the north) on the eastern side of the map as shown on the video. If everything goes well, you'll be rewarded with a clip highlighting that monstrous laser gun on your base -- blow the incoming fell horde into smithereens.
