Retaliation

Briefing:

Our sensors have located a Fell cluster close to our position. We suspect that a main spawner may be there multiplying our enemies' numbers. A defensible outpost has been established to launch operations against the target. It's payback time.

Mission Objective:

Locate and destroy the enemy's main Refinery in the area.

As you get past the second stage, it is most likely that your hero (Taggins) levels up. It is up to you which skill you'll upgrade with the 3 skill points you have, but in our case, we picked the Superior Defense. Upon reaching the sargeant level in this skill (4 skill points), you'll have the Trauma Patch passive skill -- which in return will reduce Taggin's respawn time. This is particularly helpful as you are most likely inclined in using Taggins as a Tank when patrolling. Aside from this, you may also want to check on the Tech and Ability research (accessed from the wrench icon in the main hub). For instance, the "Boot Camp" tech skill will passively increase your dead units (in squads) 15% faster. Take note that you will be using Tech Resource (blue colored nuts) to purchase these upgrades. Tech Resource are earned from completing missions.

It would also be a good idea to check on the items you can buy and equip while playing the missions. You may access this by clicking on the rocket icon beside the wrench icons. Our personal favorites are the bouncers and the replicant mines. Both relatively cheap (priced at 50 and 75 credits each)and can perfectly do the job to keep enemies at bay. We always see to it that we have 2 to 3 units each (at least if you can afford them). Also, check on the achievements list on the main hub as you can earn the rewards (tech points and credits) from meeting requirements in the game.

Now let's start the 3rd mission! First, you'll be asked to build a minigun tower near your base (indicated by the game). Towers in the game are basically your line of defense, protecting your bases whenever you take your units out on patrol. This might be a bit challenging especially to players fond of Tower Defense games as you'll have to do the patrolling alongside defending your bases -- especially when you get to latter stages in the game. Also note that each of the towers have two unique abilities to upgrade to in order to bolster your defenses. Basically, the first is beefing up its armor (longevity of the tower), and the other one strengthening its attack power. There is a third option when you click on a specific tower, the one with the dollar sign -- which will sell the said tower. The minigun tower will have the Vulcan Barrage upgrade which fires a storm of bullets slowing down enemies and dealing 50% extra damage, and the Overhaul upgrade which activates a mechanic drone to make fast repairs to the tower when it is attacked.

The 3rd mission is relatively straightforward. The first leg of the mission lets you build your defense and outlast a barrage of incoming hostile. Upon successfully defending your base from the horde, your mission status will be updated -- asking you to destroy the enemies' main refinery near the area. As the mission gets the update, you will now have the option to recruit ground troops and get to try the new mech suits. At first, the available mech suit is the Flamewalker, which is basically a mech with flamethrower. With this and your hero Taggins, your good to go on a skirmish. Just head up north of your base and pick on the Fell structures out there. Notice there is also a recruit plus icon around there which is like a ground troop with the plus icon. Standing near its proximity for a few seconds and you'll earn an additional slot for another recruit. Use this to add a bunch to your patrolling squad. While you are in the enemy zone, you may also summon the mini turret to the proximity to help your troops clear out the enemies.

After you've cleared the area of any fell structures and troops, sit on the glowing etherium deposit and wait out for the gauge to fill up. At the same time, there is also a wounded like soldier at the far east of the area. Stand within its proximity to earn an extra free recruit. While you do all these, you might be surprised to see handful of fell attacking your base below. Block their route and place 2 of your flamewalkers in their path. Advance to the north and clear the area from the fell structures. You'll also get another recruit plus icon in this area, and a chance to claim an additional refinery. As you clear this area, your about to enter the final leg of the mission.

The last leg is similar to the first two enemy bases. Although you'll find that your flamewalkers are not going to make the cut in area as they will easily be overwhelmed by the enemy spawn rate. So instead, try to make your group a combination of two sets of rangers and a flamewalker. When you get near the enemy base's proximity, it'll pump up its fell production speed. So instead of tackling their numbers, focus on destroying their main base first. Upon destroying it, you'll earn your victory.
