Passive upgrades in the game can be accessed through the wrench icon at the bottom part of the main hub screen. These are passive skills that are beneficial to different recruits or certain circumstances in the game when availed. Primarily, you have to purchase the upgrade with a currency called "Tech" in the game (which is like a blue colored nut icon), which is earned and rewarded to you every after successful mission in the game. Depending on the skill, it has multiple tier levels to upgrade into -- defined by the empty slots located at the right side of the icon. When a tier level is purchased, it'll mark it on the gauge light green. You may at any point in time reset the points you have allocated for (in skills) and earn back the total tech points that you have accumulated in the game.

Below are the list of skills that you may purchase in the skill tree:

1. Power Converter - Recover some Etherwatts when disbanding a squad or dismantling a Tower.

2. Quantum Mechanics - Increase the extraction speed of all Refineries.

3. Terminal Velocity - Increases the impact damage dealt by the Dropgun landing (minigun turret)

4. Photonic Oscillator - Allows Flamewalkers to throw stun grenades.

5. Hazardous Waste - Shellstorms throw a toxic barrel that explodes, leaving a pool of damaging waste.

6. Efficient Buildup - Refineries and Towers are built 20% faster and tougher.

7. Recycling Facility - When a Tower is destroyed, recover Etherwatts 10% of its construction cost.

8. Bootcamp - Dead units in a squad respawn 15% faster.

9. Hoorah - Temporarily increases armor themselves and every other nearby ally, by 10%.

10. Remote Gunners - Dropguns increase their attack damage by 15%.

11. Ballistic Research - All units' normal attacks deal extra damage.

11. APDS Bullets - Sniper attacks ignore light armor.

12. High Tech Weaponry - normal attacks of all Army units deal extra damage.

13. Tactical Gear - Rangers gain extra armor and are equipped with grenades.

14. Starcraft - Refineries now acquire better Radar Stations and Stronger Shield Generators.

15. Xenobiology - All units gain a chance to deal a critical hit, doubling the damage inflicted.

16. Daring Dash - GUardians can move toward enemies at lightning speed, striking them with extra damage.

17. Lethal Weapon - Each Sniper attack has a small chance of instakill.

18. Absoulte Defense - Doubles the extra duration of the psychic shields.

19. Arete - All Empyrean units gain extra health.

20. Trade Agreement - Increases extra credits earned when a mission is completed to 10%.
