Survival Missions

As your territory grows, you'll receive calls from your members reporting about rival gang operations. There are no repercussions in ignoring these calls. The locations of the survival missions are fixed anyway. If you can't seem to survive the waves of enemies in a particular spot, avoid it for the meantime then just come back later. Head to the blue marker that will appear after the call and take out the enemies. The enemies will arrive by waves. You need to kill a set number of enemies before moving the next wave or just simply survive until the timer runs out. Each wave survived has a Respect and cash reward.

Your reinforcements will arrive around the third or fourth waves so you have to do your best holding up the position. One good trick is to bring a fully upgraded Bulldog with you at the earlier parts of the game. It's a Humvee with a mounted machine gun (which you can also fire and aim alone, with LB). A Bulldog fully upgraded frames and bumpers should be able to withstand enormous punishment before finally getting destroyed.

So, where are you going to get this wonderful, entry-level assault vehicle and how will you be able to keep it? The Bulldog can be hijacked from the special forces team who will respond in the later waves of the survival missions involving the police (instead of gang members) It will tear you and your team apart if you let them alone so as soon as they appear, kill the gunner and quickly hijack the vehicle.

Later in the game, you can also hijack Bears. These are armored vehicles with a mounted machine gun but can withstand much more damage than the Bulldog. Finally, you can also drive a tank. It's a LV26 upgrade which you can buy for $19500 or you can hijack one at LV5 police notoriety. You can call in a tank anytime using your phone though it has a cooldown period. (Or you can just exit the game and load your saved game to make it available again) Once you have the tank, I suggest store it in your garage so you can conveniently select and drive it from any crib or Rim Jobs location. Sadly, it's not customizable.

Should you encounter a survival mission that's too hard, try coming back later when you have the tank and better upgrades.
