The Sword Coast SideQuests

The Sword Coast is the area that you reach as the result of impressing Steelbeard and joining his crew at the Pirates Den, and setting sail.  When you arrive at the Sword Coast your first exposure is a rather welcoming beach in which you get to find some new animals -- and kill them -- search a Native Temple and a Cave where you will find some treasure and a mystery, and find a variety of items on the beach and in the light jungle behind it in the way of resources and loot.

Eventually you will have obtained all that there is to obtain and, after you empty all the chests, plunder the resources, and have your way with a native girl (just kidding about the native girl, sorry mates) you head up the path to the right of the beach and to the left of the Temple, and have your encounter with the four enemy manning the lookout tower above.  It is at this point that you will be making the important choice that dictates what part of the story you will be following -- the Natives or the Inquisition.

(2.2.1) Sword Coast > The Natives
Well done mates!  You chose to do the Native Faction side of the story!  Excellent!  Good on ya!  Ah, but you might just want to ignore my enthusiasm because you have now a long adventure before you!  Still, I believe that this was the right choice.  So go through the dialogue options with the Captain, secure this as your path, and then do NOT progress immediately.  Instead tell him you will let him know when you are ready to go, and save the game at this point before you have a look-see around the tower area.

(2.2.2) Sword Coast > The Natives > To the Natives
This quest gets flagged as soon as you indicate to the Captain that you are ready to proceed on the journey to meet the Native Faction -- you say "You Lead, I'll Follow" and he does just that, running off along the path for you to chase after him!  Assuming that you did some resource gathering and animal killing you will have thinned out the enemies ahead, making the process of following him much easier on yourself.  Just stay on his heels to run through the required elements for this part of the sub-quest.

(2.2.3) Sword Coast > The Natives > Farther Inland
This quest is automatically flagged and completed as you follow Captain Steelbeard after telling him that you are ready to proceed from the Pirate Tower.

(2.2.4) Sword Coast > The Natives > Over the Pass
This quest is automatically flagged and completed as you follow Captain Steelbeard after the first CS in which he explains the dangers for each of the options for the path ahead as part of the Farther Inland quest.

(2.2.5) Sword Coast > The Natives > The Cave at the Pass
When you arrive at the top of the slope the Captain will turn around for another mini-CS and tell you that something does not smell right.  You have three replies you can make (the first two are snarky) go with the third and you get a little information and flag this quest.

The cave is directly ahead of you in the cliff wall -- head inside and light a Torch, grab the gold nugget from the basket just inside, and continue on in until you encounter two Natives and a Pirate, and flag the quest Hidden Lookouts.

(2.2.6) Sword Coast > The Natives > Hidden Lookouts
This was flagged when you encountered the two Natives and a Pirate at the center area of the Cave at the Pass, as part of the sub-quest of that name.  Basically you can either battle and defeat them (thus completing this sub-quest) yourself, or strategically retreat to where Patty and the Captain can assist you in dealing with them.  Either way follow the advice in the guide section and be sure you are the one who delivers the killing blow on each of the three enemies.

(2.2.7) Sword Coast > The Natives > Down into the Valley
This is part of the following the Captain phase of the journey and it is flagged after you clear out the Cave at the Pass and then report to the Captain.  Simply continue following him (and the story) to complete it.

(2.2.8) Sword Coast > The Natives > Monkey Business
Basically this mini-quest is your introduction to a new type of monkey -- the Tough Blue Claw Monkey -- which as its name suggests, are a bit tougher than the regular white Claw Monkey you have been fighting.  Now, having observer that, assuming you are comfortable with defensively fighting (using Parry and the Parry Stance) you really should not find them to be that great a challenge...

Encountering this new type of enemy flags this quest, and defeating them completes it.

(2.2.9) Sword Coast > The Natives > Just a Little Farther
Another part of the journey and following Steelbeard - when you reach the next CS that will complete this sub-quest automatically.

(2.2.10) Sword Coast > The Natives > Across the River
Another part of the journey and following Steelbeard - when you reach the next CS that will complete this sub-quest automatically.

(2.2.11) Sword Coast > Firebird's Blocking the Bridge
As you explore past the Pirate Tower along the left-hand path you will encounter a trio of Firebirds that, once you engage them will flag this quest and, once you defeat them will complete it!

(2.2.12) Sword Coast > Where is Crow's Ship?
When you reach Puerto Isabella (either path) and chat with the residents there you learn the fate of Crow's Ship, flagging and completing this quest in one go!

(2.2.13) Sword Coast > The Shaganumbi Tribe
Flagging and completing this quest is as simple as entering the village and having a chat with the Native (Masaru) who is guarding the entrance.  Whether you choose to lie to him or be as fully or as little truthful as you choose, the conversation completes this sub-quest.

(2.2.14) Sword Coast > The Suspicious Tonka
After you assist Chani with her needs but before you go with her to the Earth Temple you will be stopped by Nakutu in the Village, and discover that he is very jealous of you!  After you talk things out with him he is relieved to learn you have no designs on Chani, and he agrees to not bother with you.

(2.2.15) Sword Coast > Four Offerings for Kanadiktu
In the village after talking to Slick you encounter the Native girl and merchant Badriya, who tells you a LOT of useful information, so do not be shy about talking with her.  She knows a lot more than she realizes, and you learn more about that bastard Crow and what he has done here as a result.  What she wants from you is your help in gathering four offerings for one of the Native gods called Kanadiktu, and for getting them for her she will show you the god.

You can actually trade with her straight away by selecting the native word at the bottom of the dialgue options -- which seems to mean "Hey cool painted Native chick!  Wassup?  Let's Trade!" as it instantly opens the trade window.  Cool that.

(2.2.16) Sword Coast > The Evil Spirit of the River
This is the Alligator you have to kill for several sub-quests -- the one to prove you are a warrior to Ranapiri, and to recover the herbs and plants for Slick.

(2.2.17) Sword Coast > A Dangerous Beast
Speak to Ranapiri to receive the challenge for this sub-quest to prove you are a hunter and a warrior by killing a dangerous beast -- ask him where to look and he will tell you up river!

(2.2.18) Sword Coast > Cargo Crates for Miguel
You meet Miguel at the Storehouse in Puerto Isabella, and he asks you to help him to recover the ten lost cargo crates.  These are on the beach, and you found four of them on the beach where we first arrived in the Sword Coast, two on the beach to the right of the port in Isabella, and the rest on the other beach.

(2.2.19) Sword Coast > Cargo Crates for Miguel > Cargo Crates
While this is similar to the quest on the beach when we first started this adventure it is also different in several ways, starting with the cargo crates being split between the beach we arrived on when we first arrived at the Sword Coast, and the beaches (two of them) near Puerto Isabella), it also differs with respect to the reward you receive, which in this case in addition to Glory and gold coins, includes the Legendary Item the Powder Bag.

(2.2.20) Sword Coast > A Good First Impression
You flag and complete this quest by using the Silver Tongue greeting with Sophia at the bar at the docks in Puerto Isabella.

(2.2.21) Sword Coast > Red Wine
This quest is obtained from Sophia, the bartender at the bar in the docks at Puerto Isabella, and requires you to scavenge five bottles of Red Wine in the town.  There is a bottle up by the cannons around the corner of the building there on the way to the beach, and another bottle by the bed across from the bar on the docks.  A third bottle is on the crates under the shelter on the opposite side of the docks from the bar.  The fourth bottle is on the ramparts behind the Storehouse headed back towards the upper area, and the last bottle is in Isabella's room on the top of the Citadel in the upper area.  Once you have all five, return to Sophia to turn them in and complete this quest!

(2.2.22) Sword Coast > Bartering
On the way to rescue Tahana we meet a soldier named Torres guarding the path.  He wants us to obtain a parcel of meat from Tito in Puerto Isabella -- chances are you already have that since we have previously explored the port.  If not, go and buy it for 100 gold coins, thus keeping the idol that Torres offers.  Handing over the parcel earns you 200 gold coins and some Glory!

(2.2.23) Sword Coast > The Warriors in front of the Temple
You will encounter -- and kill -- eight native warriors who are guarding the Earth Temple when you are on the mission with Chani to bring the battle to Crow.  If you are exploring it is possible that you will end up in this fight and complete this sub-quest prior to the quest line with Chani -- that is not really a bad thing as this is sort of an independently run sub-quest and not so much part of the Chani's Plan quest line, just saying.  Either way make sure you fully loot the bodies and pick up all of the weapons when you are done!

(2.2.24) Sword Coast > Jim's Treasure Map
In a locked Level 20 Treasure Chest nearby the hut at which you met Badriya you will find some Grog, 15 gold coins, and Jim's Treasure Map -- and taking the map out of the chest will both flag and complete this sub-quest instantly!

(2.2.25) Sword Coast > Jim's Treasure
Having acquired this treasure map by completing the sub-quest Jim's Treasure Map, you now have the ability to locate the dig spot on your map and, using your trusty shovel, go there and dig up this treasure.  Of course you will have to kill the Alligator first, but hey, you didn't think this would be easy, did you?

(2.2.26) Sword Coast > The Treasure in the Native Graveyard
This map is acquired by finding the Message in a Bottle on the left-hand beach near Puerto Isabella.  Simply open the bottle in your inventory to obtain the Map and flag the quest.  Note that the Graveyard is well defended so you will want to be a but advanced in your skills before you tackle it.

(2.2.27) Sword Coast > The Treasure on Puerto Isabella Beach
This quest is flagged by purchasing the Treasure Map from Sophia the bartender at the Port Docks in Puerto Isabella.  Once you have it you can head down to the beach and dig it up!

(2.2.28) Sword Coast > The Jaguar Cave
You will encounter a soldier on the trail from Puerto Isabella who is hunting a Jaguar -- offering to help him flags this quest -- simply follow after him and help to kill the Jaguar to wrap it up.  Be sure to skin it.
