Before You Begin the game and before you start to think too far ahead you should be aware that this part - the first part - of the game - is largely a rail-based experience.

That is to say that it is really the tutorial phase of the game and as such, takes you firmly by the hand and more or less forces you through the experiences that the game wants you to have by restricting your access to things like the map in order to get you to the locations, events, and race experiences that the tutorial is designed around.

That being the case this part of the walkthrough is going to be scripted and relatively quick, but once the tutorial portion is completed and you have your Wristband and the Map unlocked, your options truly expand from there. So bear with it for the moment, and let us get that part of the game out of the way now!

Now that you know who you are - and that your ride is NOT a Viper - it is time to head to the Horizon Event Site!

Slot Your Horizon Disc

After the starting CS you will find yourself observing that yellow-and-black rocket and then you get control over it! Well, temporary control as you chase after but probably do not catch Darius who is just ahead of you!

Pay close attention as your control of the car is removed and you see a bloke on the side of the road next to a cherry VW? Yeah, that's you! Now don't delay as the clock starts and lock the gas to the floor because you need to get to the event site before 10 other drivers to score yourself a slot in the Horizon Event!

This is really your first taste of distance driving - and once you make it (you will) you get your band, ear piece, and official welcome. Next you get a CS at the garage to have your car checked out. Pay attention to the conversation that is taking place -- the mechanic is actually rather amusing as he critiques your car and then tells you that he is the man for upgrades -- assuming you make it through the heats.

That first heat starts next -- the Mechanic is in your ear as you set the GPS locator and then head to the registration area, having received your first Achievement “Welcome to Horizon” (10G) You arrived at Horizon Festival raring to go.

You have not yet received your first wristband (the Yellow Wristband) since you need to place in the top three for the first heat event, which you are about to do!

The Entry Heat to qualify for the Event and earn your Yellow Wristband!

The Yellow Wristband Heat (Point-to-Point)

Once you have signed up simply hit A to enter the event, and then hit the gas! Unless you disabled it you will have the familiar driving line what changes from green to red (green means GO and red means SLOW) which will be familiar from other games in the Forza series.

The point here is to win, not just place -- winning this Heat will get you a $3000 prize and the Yellow Wristband -- and unlock the Achievements “...and across the line!” (10G) You competed in your first ace at Horizon.

In addition to the above, for completing and winning your first official race you also will unlock the Achievement “First!” (20G) You won your first race at Horizon.

Well done you!
