How to Use Hearts Guide

When you complete villagers quests they will drop gratitude points that are in the form of hearts. These hearts will drop in different sizes and colours, the bigger the heart the more gradtitude points it is worth. To collect a heart you simply have to walk over it, when you do so it will show you how much it is worth. The hearts you earn on one island cannot go with you to other islands. This How to Use Hearts Guide will tell you everything you need to know about using them.

Collecting enough Hearts during story missions will allow you once you have attained a certain amount of gratitude points to increase your base level and ring the builder bell at each interval. The max level your base can be is level 4. Hearts can also be used outside of story missions as currency to pay for certain things such as using the ferry man's boat to venture off into unknown areas.

Any recipes you find can be unlocked using hearts, once unlocked they can be brought back to the Isle of Awakening to use. Items you see on the builder's table (see screenshot above) that has a pink lock can be purchased using hearts. The amount of gratitude points it will cost will depend on the item but once purchased it will be instantly unlocked for you to use. Another use for hearts is to use them to travel to new islands that are offered in the Explorer's Shores events which are island excursions that offer scavenger hunt missions where the objective is to track down items. Successfully completing the hunt by checking off all the items on the list will reward you with an unlimited supply of a specific item. To participate in these events you need to talk to Captain Brownbead.
