10 Big Issues With Pokemon GO

Mega Evolutions

Looking as far ahead as the 6th Generation, it’s safe to assume that Niantic will also struggle mightily with how to go about the concept of Mega Evolutions. In the Mainstream Pokemon Games, Mega Evolutions can only happen when inside of a battle, ending as the battle concludes and causing the Pokemon to turn back into its regular form. Outside of Ditto, nothing like this is currently found in Pokemon GO. Now Niantic could do like Ditto and cause a Pokemon that can Mega Evolve to do so right as they come into battle at a Pokemon Gym, forcing it to revert back into its normal form after the Gym Battles ends.

Unfortunately, this method is further convoluted by the fact that all Pokemon looking to Mega Evolve must be holding their appropriate Mega Stone. Of course, the mechanics found in Pokemon GO see no Pokemon being able to do that sort of thing. Now Niantic could just have any Pokemon that can Mega Evolve do that exact thing when place into battle without the need for a Mega Stone, but that would take away from the integrity of the concept of Mega Evolution and how Niantic tries to relate Pokemon GO as closely as possible to the Mainstream Pokemon Games. Long story short: unless Niantic has plans of allowing Pokemon to hold items in the further of the game, then there is absolutely no clear answer to how they will have Mega Evolution work properly and make sense at the exact same.
