10 Things We Hate About Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Shiny-Locked Alola Legendary Pokemon

Back in Pokemon Sun & Moon, the Pokemon Company deliberately made it impossible to find all Legendary Pokemon and Ultra Beasts of the Alola Region in their Shiny Forms. No one knows why exactly, but for some given reason, they coded it in these games for all of these given Pokemon to be Shiny-Locked. This made more than a handful of players upset, as Shiny Pokemon and Shiny Hunting are some of the more exciting aspects of Pokemon, and they made sure to voice their displeasure. Because of this outcry, the Pokemon Company went ahead and made it possible to find all the Ultra Beasts, both new and old, in their Shiny Forms. This made players momentarily excited; however, it still left one glaring oversight in the fact that all the Alola Region Legendary Pokemon continue to be Shiny-Locked.

To this day, it is still impossible to find Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Tapu Fini, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Lele, and Necrozma (and thus Dusk Mane Necrozma, Dawn Wings Necrozma, and Ultra Necrozma) in their given Shiny Forms. The only Alola Region Legend that isn’t Shiny-Locked is Tapu Koko, and that’s only because it was fortunate enough to receive a Wi-Fi Event as a Shiny Pokemon. Besides it, all other Alola Region Legends cannot be Shiny. It’s unfortunate things had to be this way, as the Pokemon Company could’ve easily done the opposite and made all them possible to being found as Shiny, just like the Ultra Beasts. For now anyways, it looks like players will continue to have to wait for these Pokemon to be Shiny, whether in the next Generation of Pokemon or through their very own Wi-Fi Events.
