Top 10 Scariest Pokemon
#3 - Banette
Banette ranks third on our top ten list, and I must say, it's creepy. Just the look of it and that smile sends some chills down my spine. There are even more freaky images online, and they are worse.
Banette, to begin with, wasn't a Pokemon; it was a doll that was thrown away by its owner. A hatred grew towards its owner, that eventually formed into a grudged. It was that grudge that cause the doll to come to life, and that was the beginning of Banette. But it doesn't stop there... Its Pokedex Entries from Pokemon Black/White and Pokemon OmegaRuby read, "A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it. Strong feelings of hatred turned a puppet into a Pokémon. If it opens its mouth, its cursed energy escapes." It's also said that Banette can be found in alleyways.
I know... Obsessive creepiness...
It isn't know what Banette would do if it found its previous owner, but I'm sure the consensus pick would be that it would get revenge. The hate it had for its previous owner was so strong, that Banette came to life. If it hates that person to that extent, you just know it wants to hurt that person as much as they did to it. Perhaps even to the point of death...But until the day it finds its owner, it can be found in dark alleys where it places curses upon others. Can you imagine that? You're walking down the street at night... It's dark, and you forget to bring along any Pokeballs. You pass by an alley, and a gleam of light catches your eye. You turn, and you see this thing staring at you... With that creepy smile... And it gets the idea to let out a little of that pain it's feeling on you...
Ooooo... Spooky!

Well, Gengar will still be my favorite pokemon no matter what. ;) Second fav is Gastly, and next fav is Haunter. (And I love how Wikipedia says Gengar is popular with males. I'm female. ^_^)
But Pokedex entries can't describe every individual pokemon's behavior. Gastly in "The Tower of Terror" episode, the Gastly in "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak," and Officer Jenny's Gastly all had different behaviors and personalities. It's like how if pokemon could write a pokedex entry of human beings, they might say something like "Human beings rob, murder, torture, and many other things I would prefer not to say." But clearly not all human beings do that. Just like Ash's friend Haunter didn't have any desire to lick Ash or his friends to death. The "Tower of Terror" episode Gengar was definitely a lot friendlier and more benign than the Gengar in "The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis" too.
But aside from these things, this article was fun to read. ^_^
Hypno can be FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! If he can eat your dreams he can also eat your nightmares. Which is good. And here's a sneak peak of my list. Scariest Pokemon ever:Darkrai
This list totally needs Darkrai...
Yep.
in the original Japaneses version it doesn't say Dusknoir takes people to the "spirit world" it say it takes them to the UNDERWORLD.
No Darkrai? Dude he feeds off people's nightmares and he can do that from 4 miles away, also no giratina but these pokemon are horrifying. And why is spoink in the mentions????
Spoink isn't a Pokemon that didn't make the cut. Splint is downright NOT scary
I know right! 0

Good list, but why isn't Cacturne on it?
the only pokemon that creeps me out is yamask the others are cool.....thats all i have to say on the subject
Yamask isn't creepy. It's evolved form, Cofagrigus, is scary. It can turn people to mummies
seriously, not Banette, not Dusknoir, but Yamask?
