Top 10 Scariest Pokemon
#4 - Gourgeist
Next we have Gourgeist, the Pumpkin Pokemon. Gourgeist might not seem so scary; it might even seem a little silly. Much like Yamask, you need to read Gourgeist's Pokedex Entries before you know its true horror.
Gourgeist's Pokedex Entry from Pokemon X reads, "Singing in eerie voices, they wander town streets on the night of the new moon. Anyone who hears their song is cursed." As you can see, this description doesn't seem like much. Yeah, you would be cursed (which can seem a little scary), but that's it. The thing is, this description doesn't do Gourgeist that scary justice. It's the description given to it in Pokemon Y, the brother/sister game to Pokemon X. It states, "It enwraps its prey in its hairlike arms. It sings joyfully as it observes the suffering of its prey." Yeah... Stuff just got real...
Once Gourgeist has decided upon its prey, it drapes its victim in its hairlike arms. From there it eats it, but it might kill its prey first by suffocation. Sounds a lot like Honedge, right? But it doesn't stop there. While it's slowly killing you, it will sing joyfully as it sees you suffer (much like Haunter would). The creepiness scale has just hit ten... Seriously...
The way Gourgeist will kill you is scary thought, but the worst part is you wouldn't even see it coming. Just look at it. At first glance, you wouldn't think it would harm you (unless, of course, it's a Super Sized Giant Form). And yet, it could end up killing you, and laughing while do so.Gourgeist is like three of the top ten scariest Pokemon that have made this list wrapped up in one Pokemon: Honedge, since it will enwrap you before/as it kills you; Haunter, since it finds enjoyment from its act of murder; and finally, Drifloon, since you wouldn't expect it.
Any Pokemon on this list should bring fear to your heart, and there is no exception to that for Gourgeist.

Well, Gengar will still be my favorite pokemon no matter what. ;) Second fav is Gastly, and next fav is Haunter. (And I love how Wikipedia says Gengar is popular with males. I'm female. ^_^)
But Pokedex entries can't describe every individual pokemon's behavior. Gastly in "The Tower of Terror" episode, the Gastly in "The Ghost of Maiden's Peak," and Officer Jenny's Gastly all had different behaviors and personalities. It's like how if pokemon could write a pokedex entry of human beings, they might say something like "Human beings rob, murder, torture, and many other things I would prefer not to say." But clearly not all human beings do that. Just like Ash's friend Haunter didn't have any desire to lick Ash or his friends to death. The "Tower of Terror" episode Gengar was definitely a lot friendlier and more benign than the Gengar in "The Ancient Puzzle of Pokemopolis" too.
But aside from these things, this article was fun to read. ^_^
Hypno can be FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! If he can eat your dreams he can also eat your nightmares. Which is good. And here's a sneak peak of my list. Scariest Pokemon ever:Darkrai
This list totally needs Darkrai...
Yep.
in the original Japaneses version it doesn't say Dusknoir takes people to the "spirit world" it say it takes them to the UNDERWORLD.
No Darkrai? Dude he feeds off people's nightmares and he can do that from 4 miles away, also no giratina but these pokemon are horrifying. And why is spoink in the mentions????
Spoink isn't a Pokemon that didn't make the cut. Splint is downright NOT scary

the only pokemon that creeps me out is yamask the others are cool.....thats all i have to say on the subject
Yamask isn't creepy. It's evolved form, Cofagrigus, is scary. It can turn people to mummies
seriously, not Banette, not Dusknoir, but Yamask?
