10 Great Remakes that Deserve Another Remake

7. Super Mario 64 DS

Many will argue that Super Mario 64 is a classic in its own rights, and by no means does it need to be remade. I'm not here to argue about that, because all that does is devolve into arguments about which Mario game is objectively the best Mario game, and that always ends in a bloodbath.

…Anyway, whether or not Super Mario 64 needed a remake, it certainly got one in the form of the awkwardly titled Super Mario 64 DS. Super Mario 64 DS featured an additional thirty stars for completionists to grab, and the ability to not only play as Mario, but also as Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi was an interesting move on Nintendo's part. Additionally, the updated graphics look a fair bit better than the N64 version, which was undoubtedly very pointy and badly aged.

So Super Mario 64 DS is actually quite a good game on its own, so why would it need a remake? Simple: Super Mario 64 DS, a 3D platformer, released on the Nintendo DS. The DS has no form of analog movement, so trying to move in a 3D plane such as the one in Super Mario 64 with only directional input can be clunky and frustrating. It's not really a deal breaker, but it's enough.
