10 Great Remakes that Deserve Another Remake

9. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

You know it's going to happen soon. Since the third generation of Pokemon games, Game Freak started remaking older games in the mega-popular franchise. This started, of course, with Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, remakes of the original Pokemon Red and Blue (or Green in Japan). Game Freak took the original game and updated it with all the enhancements that Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald introduced to the series, and really made it the definite and dowright more fun way to play the original games.

Over time, Game Freak started remaking other entries. During the fourth Pokemon generation we got HeartGold and SoulSilver, and while the fifth generation got skipped in terms of remakes, this sixth generation we'll soon be seeing Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. While the fourth generation remake is inevitably the next in line, soon enough Game Freak will catch up on the remakes and realize they may need to start looking back again.

That's not really a bad thing, though. Since the third generation of games, Pokemon has seen a fair amount of improvements, the biggest one certainly being the series' jump to 3D. In addition, FireRed and LeafGreen are now on hardware that makes it difficult to transfer Pokemon up from, without a slew of other games from earlier generations to make a bunch of slow paced transfers up from. Other than some kind of enhanced Virtual Console port, a remake is the only option to both relive the original adventure in the Kanto region and transfer the Pokemon to new adventures.
