2) NHL 95
NHL 94 is widely considered to be the best hockey game ever but I actually think NHL 95 is better. Aside from simply looking better graphically, it also played better. NHL 95 was ahead of its time in terms of gameplay mechanics. One-timers and wraparounds were the two go-to maneuvers in this game and they are still commonly abused in hockey games online today. Other features included the ability to lay on the ice to block shots and perform fake shots to deke out goalies. NHL 95 also marked the first time you could actually play a complete season which is an important part of any sports game! You could also create, trade, and sign/release players which you couldn't do in 94.
Although the graphics might not hold a candle to today's hockey games, there is still a heavy nostalgia factor for gamers who grew up playing NHL 95. There's also something to be said about a game that has so many of the all time greats on its roster such as Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Ray Bourque, and Patrick Roy.
