How can I get license points for basch if he has no weapon

I take it that you have just gotten him?!
Dont you have a spare weapon lying around that you can equip him with? If not then he will have to fight bare knuckled until you gain one. Just keep him alive and set his gambits well. He will gain points as he fights with the group. The gambits for one of the members should always be set to heal if HP drops to a certain level anyway.

im with balthiersbit on that one... usually you would have an extra sword with you from changing swords with vaan. since you just got basch that would mean that you are in the mines. you do find a few weapons in them if i remember correctly, so just open some treasure chests and try to find one. if you do have the sword that vaan starts out with then give it to basch, he already has a few hundred LP on him so use those to get some liscences for him. just having him will get him more LP so dont worry about that. but remember that if you have to fight flan or anything else in the jelly family then basch wont be much good without a weapon, he will be attacking, but will do no damage. besides, you wont be in the mines very long, unless you decide to stay and level up a bit, so dont worry. once you are out of the mines you can sell your loot and buy weapons and armor in Rabanastre. but you wont need to buy basch a sword yet because you get an objective to bring him a sword from Dalan, and you wont need to change it for a little while. hope this helps and good luck.
