How do I find the MindFlayer? I need to kill it so I can get to Zodiark. But every time I go to Phase 1 Dig , I go to the south end where the book tells me to , and he is not there. What do I do?

I think the Mindflayer only appears when you have 95% of the party MP drained. So to reduce MP and prepare for battle, have all characters cast protective spells on each other untill the mindflayer appears.
