white mage, black mage, etc.

Any advice on who I should make the white mage, black mage, etc.??? Or should I train them all equally and give them all the same powers?

Comment:(Dec 28 2008) especially what should I train Vaan to be?

Well if youre doing the enforced class system. Or if you just prefer each character to have a distinctive class then I would chose it like this. (i.e me personally)

Ashe and Penelo as your casters. Which as white and black as it isnt just black and white. (they have higher Magic power and greater amounts of MP)
Vaan and Basch as my tanks. The stronger and more powerful. They would always have greatswords or atleast melee weapons.
Balthier and Fran long distance weapons. Although it can be more sensible to have your casters with long range weapons but it would depend if you would have their gambits set up to do any form of physical attack. If not..lots of armour for them!!!

Thats how mine would be but that would probably change as I have played FFXII both times with everyone with the license board filled completely so everyone has shared power.

There really is no person that should definitely become one of those roles, but I would say that Fran and Baltheir(should you keep them equipped with Long range weapons) do nicely in these roles.

Fran and ahse have the highest magic power so i'd use them 2 for magics and divide it equally.

I would keep everyone powered up equally just in case your 'would be' mages get KO'd, and besides it saves time to just use magic with the character you are playing as instead of changing characters.
