The most powerful one handed weapon would probably be the Durandal sword, it can only be obtained through the bazaar by selling 3x lifewicks, 2x emporer scale and 1x leshach halcyon.

If I'm not mistaken the strongest 1 hand weapon is Save The Queen. Has an attack power of 100 and you can buy it once you reach Balfonheim Port, at the weapons store. If is not the strongest is at least in the top 3.

Hmm id have to say the deathbringer maybe I'm not too sure, it has an attack power of 90 and has a 30% chance of getting a 1hit KO on any enemy, also the guy in the pending answers section is wrong sonce Save The Queen is a 2-hander, it's inder greatswords2 in the licencse board -.-

The most powerful 1 handed weapon in the game is the Scorpion Tail hammer which can be bought from the baazar after selling Scorpio gem x4, Charged Gizzard x3 and Wyrm Bone x3. It has a whopping 119 attack points which is enough to rival most great sword and if you also equip a demon sheild or the zodiac escutcheon with it, it can very a very formidable combo.
