You get doom essence from the castle in Amityvale. Talk to Artix, go to the castle (DA only) you will need a light weapon. You need to find the key to the servant's quarters. To do this battle all of the skeletons down the right side of the castle, go up the stairs (twice) after the final battle it will tell you that you have found the key. Use the key, battle 3 skeletons (at one time) and you will get the key to the throne room. Continue doing this until you have enough doom essence.
