You don't need a dragon amulet to get dragon coins, but there are no "free" dragon coins either. You must buy them. The closest to "free" is when you upgrade your account with a dragon amulet you get 200 "free" dragon coins, and you can get a one time special rate on 2000 dragon coins for $5.00 more. You can now get Artix Entertainment gift cards at Target stores. (They will be available in other stores later) These are supposed to cost the same as upgrading from the site. No extra expense. You can get free dragon coins from the ballyhoo quests in falconreach opposite twilly
Go to Ballyhoo at Falchereach click on the sign and try to get DragoCoins.
You can get free dragon coin by hacking it, but it hard.
You do NOT need a Dragon Amulet to possess or acquire Dragon Coins (DC) OR to have a dragon, but you DO need a Dragon Amulet to grow the dragon from baby to adult.
