I've built the hobby shop but don't know what it's for exactly. I see five options, four of which icons for jobs such as Artist, FireFighter, etc. The 5th one is a RC boat. I know what the boat is for but what about the others? I purchased the Artist and Firefighter hobby for 1,000 a piece but have no idea what to do now.

On one of the house screens click the shopping button and then access your inventory in the lower right corner. There are tabs across the top of your inventory items that divide them into groups if you have more than one. Your hobby shop items are under their own tab. Place them in a house and your sims can interact with them.

Go to your house when adding furniture or building on there is a button on the bottom of the right side of the screen it looks like a saddle bag when you click on it a whole slew of categories come up of your inventory. When you touch the item it will want to be placed in whatever house or yard you are in. Good luck!

I think they're to help you get promotions, they also increase your fun.

It says on EA games' own website:

" HOBBY SHOP
Build the Hobby Shop and you can buy objects for your Sims to interact with, which will help them improve their careers and get promoted quicker. The Hobby Shop also sells some other cool items that are just for fun."

In the new update, the 'Hobby Shop' has changed to 'The Promotions R' Us' store.
