Eterna City

Start off by heading into the Underground Man's house. Talk to the old man there to receive the EXPLORER KIT. Leave and go northeast drom the Pokemon Center to meet Cynthia. She'll give you the HM01, which teaches the ability "Cut". But you won't be able to utilize it outside of battle without the second badge.

Head to the Condominium. There's a boy on the 1st floor that wants to trade his Chatot Pokemon for a Buizel. Trade with him if you like. Proceed to the 2nd floor and talk to the old lady at the bottom right corner of the room. She'll give you a TM67. Talk to the brunette lady standing in front of the  counter inside the Pokemon Center. She'll give you the FRIENDSHIP CHECKER POKETECH APP.

Go back outside and head northeast up the steps past the herbal shop. Take the steps down to Route 211.

Route 211

You can capture a Meditite, Chingling and Ponyta here. Ponyta, a fire-type Pokemon can prove useful in the Eterna Gym later (provided that it reaches level 16, and learns Ember). So do take the time to run around the tall grass for a bit. You can battle some trainers as well.

 ------------------- ------------------------ ----------
| Trainer | Pokemon | Rewards |
 ------------------- ------------------------ ----------
| Zach | Zubat (x3) (Lv. 13-15) | $120 |
| Louis | Geodude, Onix (Lv. 15) | $480 |
| Alexandra | Hoot Hoot (Lv. 19) | $608 |
 ------------------- ------------------------ ----------

Go right along the lower portion to battle with Louis. Smash the rock and head doen to find Alexandra. You can find the TM12 south of her position. Go back to the bridge and proceed east into the cave.

Mt. Coronet

Examine the rock directly ahead of the entrance to find a REVIVE. Continue further right and examine the rock opposite of the gray one for an ELIXIR. There's nothing else here so go back to the city and into the gym.

Eterna Gym

Speak to Gardenia, the Gym Leader. She'll says you must defeat 4 other trainers before you can face her. Proceed into the forest. Here are the locations of the 4 trainers:

Trainer # 1 : From the entrance, head up, then left near the top. Continue down to the bottom, and talk to the trainer.

Trainer # 2 : From Caroline's location, go north, then west, then south all the way past the 2 boulders.

Trainer # 3 : Behind the 3 light green trees northeast from the forest entrance.

Trainer # 4 : From forest entrance, head east, north, then west.

 ------------------- ----------------------------- ----------
| Trainer | Pokemon | Rewards |
 ------------------- ----------------------------- ----------
| #1: Caroline | Cherubi, Roselia (Lv. 15) | $240 |
| #2: Jenna | Budew (x3) (Lv. 14, 13, 15) | $480 |
| #3: Angela | Turtwig (Lv. 17) | $540 |
| #4: Lindsay | Roselia (Lv. 17) | $952 |
 ------------------- ----------------------------- ----------

After defeating the 4 trainers, leave the gym, head to the Pokemon Center to heal up and save your game, Return to to the gym forest, and proceed to the top to face the gym leader.

 ------------------- ------------------------------ ----------
| Leader | Pokemon | Rewards |
 ------------------- ------------------------------ ----------
| | Cherubi (Lv. 19) | -- |
| Gardenia | Roserade (Lv. 22) | -- |
| | Turtwig (Lv. 19) | $2640 |
 ------------------- ------------------------------ ----------
| If you have high level fire Pokemon with fire-type attacks. |
| Then these battles shouldn't be too hard. Otherwise, bring |
| in your high level grass Pokemon to defend against your |
| opponent's grass-type attacks. Or bring in a grass Pokemon |
| that has the Bite ability. The said move deals a good deal |
| of damage and sometimes makes the target flinch, causing |
| them to skip a turn. |
| |
| Roserade's Magical Leaf causes Paralysis, so be sure bring |
| plenty of Parlyz Heals. Use Potions when necessary. As for |
| Turtwig, repeatedly use Bite on it. Gardenia will use a |
| Super Potion once Turtwig is low on health, so you'll have |
| to deplete its HP again. |
 -------------------------------------------------------------

You'll receive the FOREST BADGE & the TM86 (Grass Knot) afterwards.
