Listed below are several Beginner Tips and Tricks which will help you in Tactics Ogre: Reborn.
Always Check the Warren Report
The Warren Report is a feature in Tactics Ogre: Reborn that records the players' deeds in Valeria. It will also contain the profiles of characters you meet and news of what has happened throughout the land. It is important that you check the Warren Report as often as possible as this feature will occasionally be your gateway to new quests and cutscenes. This will not happen much until you reach Chapter 4.
Always Use Canopus
Canopus will join your party early in Tactics Ogre: Reborn and he will remain one of your best performers throughout the entire game. Make sure you use Canopus whenever he is available, he has the ability to fly and has great offensive stats, both physical and magical, in his base class, Vartan.
Recruit Monsters
You may want to consider recruiting monsters in Tactics Ogre: Reborn as they can make great additions to your party. Monsters usually come packaged with powerful abilities, many of which operate under an area-of-effect parameter which can help you weed out multiple foes at once. Dragon's especially are among the best tanks in the game.
Craft Powerful Gear
During Chapter Two of Tactics Ogre: Reborn you will unlock the ability to craft. The crafting feature will appear at shops, and it will enable you to combine weapons, armor, and items with specific materials to create more powerful versions. It is important to remember when you want to upgrade gear that your party members are presently equipped with that you select the 'Equipped' option when crafting otherwise you will end up purchasing a new piece entirely which will result in you wasting Goth unnecessarily.
Heal your Party
Having at least one cleric in your party in Tactics Ogre: Reborn is mandatory as their restorative healing magic when needed can save everyone in your party. Clerics not only replenish lost HP, they can also cure status abnormalities.
Prioritize the Leader in Battles
Victory in most of the battles in Tactics Ogre: Reborn can be claimed by defeating the enemy's leader which means there is no need to waste time trying to defeat all the flunkies. Just prioritize taking down the leader and then move on.
Loot Bags
The loot bags dropped by enemies are picked up at the end of the fight. If they are taken by enemies that you have not killed, you will lose the items. If they are picked up, and you kill that enemy, the loot is dropped again.
Scout the Battlefield Before Battles
Before a battle begins in Tactics Ogre: Reborn you will be given the opportunity to scout the battlefield and decide which characters you want to bring along. It is important that you take advantage of this feature as it also allows you to view your opponents and devise a strategy to combat them. Although certain information about them will be obscured you will still be able to take note of their class and what monsters and undead are in their ranks.
