How to use Talisman

Talismans in Shin Megami Tensei V are marked as a key item, which means they cannot be used in the 'Item' menu. They are given throughout the game, and it allows the demons to use Magatsuhi skills in combat from their specific race Talisman. This How to use Talisman guide will tell you everything you need to know about Talisman.

Magatsuhi Skills are one of the unique skills the Nahobino and the demons in your party can unleash in combat during Shin Megami Tensei, and it is important that you understand how to use them, as the buffs or defbuffs you gain can help determine the outcome of a battle. Using a Talisman enables you to use that demon race's Magatsuhi skill, giving you an additional Magatsuhi that you can use instead of defaulting to the Critical skill. This additional Magatsushi skill can be used in combat whenever the Magatsuhi gauge is full.

In order to use a demon's Magatsuhi skill, you must first unlock that demon's Talisman. There are 28 different Talismans in total, and they each grant access to a specific Magatsuhi skill, one for each demon race in the game. Below is a list of all the Talisman and how to unlock them.

Avatar Talisman

Collect 45 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagataki

Hit - Accuracy and ailment efficacy of all allies is greatly raised for 1 turn.

Avian Talisman

Collect 30 Mimans and go to Cadaver’s Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Accursed Poison

Chance of inflicting an ailment (stronger ailments prioritized) to all foes and lowers all stats by 1 rank for 3 turns.

Beast Talisman

Complete the A Wish for a Fish, which can be started by talking with the Nekomata in the Container Yard in Shinagawa.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Adversity

The lower the HP of all allies, the more damage and HP recovered through skills for 1 turn.

Brute Talisman

Complete the Talisman Hunt sidequest, which can be started by speaking with Shiki-Ouji, who's located to the southeast of the Nagatacho Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Expand: Critical Aura

Next Strength-based attack from all allies will be 100% accurate and guarantees Critical.

Drake Talisman

Complete The Ultimate Omelette sidequest, which can be started by speaking with Aitvaras near the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Big Bang

Severe Almighty attack based on level to all foes.

Divine Talisman

Speak with an Angel near the warehouse in the Container Yard in Shinagawa where you fight Loup-garou.

Magatsuhi Skill: Sea of Stars

Moderate MP recovery to all allies.

Element Talisman

Collect 10 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Luck

EXP and Macca earned greatly increased if the battle ends on this turn.

Fairy Talisman

Complete The Root of the Problem sidequest, which can be started by talking with Silky in the Fairy Village.

Magatsuhi Skill: Fairy Banquet

Raises all states of all allies to the max for 3 turns.

Fallen Talisman

Complete the To Cure a Curse sidequesr, which can be started by speaking with Andras on the mountain near the Kamiyacho Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki

Doubler - Buffs and debuffs are twice as effective for all allies for 1 turn.

Femme Talisman

Complete The Demon of the Spring sidequest, which can be started by speaking with the Mermaid found near a waterfall close to the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Free

All skills of all allies will cost 1 MP for 1 turn.

Fiend Talisman

Collect 70 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Soul Drain

Heavy level-based Almighty HP/MP drain attack to 1 doe.

Foul Talisman

Talk with the Slime located to the southeast of the Hamamatsucho Leyline Fount. The Slime can be found at the bottom of the building.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Potenial

All potentials are maxed out for all allies for 1 turn.

Genma Talisman

Collect 100 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagataki: Luck

EXP and Macca earned greatly increased if the battle ends on this turn.

Haunt Talisman

Complete the A Preta Predicament sidequest in the very first area.

Magatsuhi Skill: Twilight Wave

Heavy Physical attack to all foes. Chane of inflicting Sleep.

Holy Talisman

Collect 55 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagataki: Hit

Accuracy and ailment efficacy of all allies is greatly raised for 1 turn.

Jaki Talisman

Speak with a Rakshasa located on the roof of the Tokyo Diet Building.

Magatsuhi Skill: Rasetsu Feast

Lowers all states to the minimum for all foes for 3 turns.

Jirae Talisman

Complete the Chakra Drop Chomp sidequest, which can be started by speaking with the demon next to the Tennozu Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Sincerity

Forgives up to 2 failures in a demon conversation for 1 turn.

Kishin Talisman

Collect 90 Mimans and go to Cadaver's Hollow to receive the talisman as reward.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagataki: Pierce

All attacks from all allies will pierce for 1 turn.

Kunitsu Talisman

Complete the Clash with the Kunitsukami sidequest, which can be started by speaking with Okuninushi near the Kanda-no-Yashiro Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Dekajaon

Negates all buff effects on all foes.

Lady Talisman

Complete The Falcon's Head sidequest, which can be started by speaking with Isis in the Fairy Village.

Magatsuhi Skill: Waters of Youth

Full HP/MP recovery to self.

Night Talisman

Complete the Khumbanda's Bottle sidequest, which can be started by speaking with the Succubus located near the Konan 2nd Block Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Soul Drain

Heavy level-based Almighty HP/MP drain attack to 1 doe.

Megami Talisman

Complete The Horn of Plenty sidequest, which can be started by talking with Demeter near the northmost point of Chiyoda.

Magatsuhi Skill: Eternal Prayer

Full HP recovery, ailment and/or death recovery for all allies (stock included).

Raptor Talisman

Complete the Movin' on Up sidequest, which can be started by talking with one of the Oni demons to the west of the Leyline Fount in Nagatacho.

Magatsuhi Skill: Accursed Poison

Chance of inflicting an ailment (stronger ailments prioritized) to all foes and lowers all stats by 1 rank for 3 turns.

Snake Talisman

Speak with Yurlungur, who's located under the bridge between Ginza and Awajicho.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki

Dance - All multi-hit moves of all allies will deal the max amount of hits for 1 turn.

Vile Talisman

Complete the Magic from the East sidequest, which can be started by speaking with Baphomet in one of the warehouses in the Container Yard in Shinagawa.

Magatsuhi Skill: Impaler's Glory

Greatly increases the damage of the next attack of self and adds Pierce effect.

Wargod Talisman

Complete the No Stone Unturned sidequest, which can be started by talking with Neko Shogun to the north of the Shiba Leyline Fount.

Magatsuhi Skill: Freikugel EX

Severe Almighty attack based on level to 1 foe.

Wilder Talisman

Obtained from a Nue in an enclosed room in Container Yard. You need to get in from a hole in the roof.

Magatsuhi Skill: Twilight Wave

Heavy Physical attack to all foes. Chance of inflicting Sleep.

Yoma Talisman

Complete the Pollution Panic sidequest, which can be started by speaking with a Mandrake near Hamamatsucho.

Magatsuhi Skill: Omagatoki: Potential

All potentials are maxed out for all allies for 1 turn.

You will be able to use the Magatsuhi skill once your Magatsuhi gauge is full, and you have a demon on your party in which you possess their race's Talisman. Once you meet this requirement, you will be able to unleash the ability by scrolling down to the 'Skills' menu and selecting it. Take advantage of the Talismans whenever possible, as they can be infinitely used once unlocked. It is recommended that you invest Glory learning Race Transcended Miracle as soon as possible so that any race of demon in your party can use the Magatsuhi skill tied to the Talisman.
