Shin Megami Tensei V Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include why you should save Macca and why demons are diposable. As well as these hints and tips, we also have a beginners guide here which goes into more details on some of the tips we have below:

Save your Progress at Leyline Founts

In Shin Megami Tensei V your only save points are Leyline Founts. You can visit Leyline Founts to save your game, teleport to previously discovered Leyline Founts, visigt shops, and fuse or enhance your demons. Leyline Founts are few and far between so it is important that you make sure you save your game whenever you find one otherwise if you fall in battle you will spawn back at your last save which could potentially mean losing a lot of progress. Try to get into the habit of saving when you first reach a Leyline Fount and then again once you are done, just to make sure.

Save Money for Healing

The currency used in Shin Megami Tensei V is Macca and it is essential that you save some of this money for when you select the 'Recovery' option at a Leyline Fount as it will cost you Macca to recover a party member's health and magic pools (HP and MP). Resist the temptation to spend your Macca on consumables and healing potions as the 'Recovery' option at Leyline Founts will also restore a character's magic, which no items early in the game will do. If your character is under level 10 it will cost you 75 Macca or less for each character to fully replenish their health.

Recruit Demons

Aside for healing members of your party, it is also essential that you save Macca for recruiting demons. It is important that you recruit more allies as doing so will make encounters with enemies easier as the demons you recruit will possess new Attacks and Skills that you can use in fights. You can recruit up to three demons and in order for you to persuade them to join your party will typically require handing over large amounts of Macca, HP, and items. Take a look at our How to Recruit Demons guide to find how they are summoned and added to your compendium in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Collect Demon Essences

You can obtain Demon Essences from treasure boxes and amalgams while exploring the field, or acquire them directly from demons by fulfilling requests (side quests). It is essential that you collect Demon Essences in Shin Megami Tensei V as they can be used at Leyline Founts for Essence Fusion, which will enable you to teach your character and the demons in your party new Skills and Attacks with new Affinities. Demon Essence Fusion can also be used to transfer Weaknesses and Resistances from the demon Essence to your character, which will help them combat enemies with strong elemental (Affinity) attacks that you are weak to. Take a look at our How to get Demon Essence guide to find out how you can learn skills without leveling up or without receiving them via Demon Fusion.

Demons are Disposable

Don't get too attached to the demons you recruit, they are not members of your party. Demons are basically tools that you use that provide extra attacks, and you should never hesitate to swap them out when you find better ones as you progress in the game. Also, remember that you can perform Demon Fusion, a process that takes two of your recruited demons (or a demon from your compendium) and combines them to create a new much higher level demon. You may want to consider constantly recruiting low-level demons with the sole intent of using them as Fusion fodder in order to gain powerful allies.
