How to get Free Diamonds

Diamonds in Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is a currency that is more valuable than Gold, it is also a lot more difficult to earn. Familiar Expeditions

Occasionally when you send a team of your Familiars on an exploration mission they will come across large blue stones, that jut out of the ground. These big stones can be mined for a decent payout of diamonds providing you first deal with the team of enemy familiars guarding them. To start the attack you will first have to pay a certain amount of tickets.

Level Milestones

When you cross certain level thresholds in Ni no Kuni you will be given a reward which will consist of helpful items, materials, and Diamonds. Your rank increases with the achievement of every 10th class level. This means in order to reach the levels that pay out the rewards will require a lot of grinding.

Rank 4 (Level 60):

Reward: 1,000 Diamonds

Rank 5 (Level 100):

Reward: 2,000 Diamonds

Labyrinth of Dreams

The Labyrinth of Dreams is a level-based gauntlet of battles and challenges that will reward you Diamonds when you complete them in the shortest possible time or earn at least 20 stars. Rewards can only be received once. Before you start a level in the Labyrinth you can check to see what rewards you will earn from it, which tends to be around 50 Diamonds or so per level.
