How to Beat Diablos

Diablos is the king of the Wildspire Wastes and can be found in sand-filled underground caverns in the mission 'Horned Tyrant Below the Sands' in area 13 and 14. As soon as you make your presence known it will become aggressive and violent. This monster is weak to the ice element so make sure you equip a high powered ice weapon, along with plenty of sonic bombs, flash bombs and cool drinks as this hunt will be taking place in the desert.

Beating Diablos

The safest place while fighting Diablos is underneath it as it will not be able to use its clubbed tail to swing at you or its horns to gorge you. Stay underneath the monster whenever you are able to and keep picking away at its underbelly. Try not to stay in close proximity to this monster if you cannot get underneath it as it has a charge attack that is difficult to avoid.

Diablos also has a devestating burrowing attack where it tunnels under the sand and re-emerges under you dealing massive damage that not even upgraded armour can protect you from. When this beast burrows underground, instead of running directly away from the creature, run around it in a circle so when it erupts out of the ground it will miss you. You will be able to tell where Diablos will emerge when it performs this attack as cracks and dust will appear on the ground. Use the sonic bombs while the monster is underground to force the beast up.

The Diablos weakest points are the back of its feet and its tail, this creature is also prone to being mounted and attacked from above if you have the Insect Glaive. Once mounted the monster will put little effort towards shaking you off.
