Deviljho is the first free DLC and becomes available when you have installed patch 2.00. Deviljho is a large brute wyvern that resemblance a Tyrannosaurus Rex, it is a nomadic beast that can appear in almost every area of the game, the location it can most frequently be found is in the Elder Recess so to find it there you must first complete the second main Zora Magdaros quest to unlock the area.

To find Deviljho start an Expedition and travel to the Elder Recess and search for tracks around areas 5 and 6 on the map. When you have found some, follow them so they lead you to the monster. After you kill Deviljho talk to the Jovial Scholar near the market in Astera to unlock the Special Assignment 'The Food Chain Dominator' from the board. Once defeated in an Expedition Deviljho will appear in every high rank locale, as well as 6 and 7 star optional quests.

Beating Deviljho

Deviljho only appears in level 6 and 7 hunts making it a one of the toughest monsters to beat in the game. Occassionally once you have defeated it in an Expedition Deviljho will be part of the optional quests but the quest which has you hunting the monster is 'The Food Chain Dominator'. The reward for killing Deviljho is 14,400 zenny.

Although Deviljho is a huge beast you will find hitting its weak points and causing damage easy. This means severing off its tail and attacking its stomach and head. This monster is weak to Thunder and Dragon elements and susceptible to status effects. Deviljho is extremely aggressive and violent and once enraged its muscles will start to glow red indicating it is about to unleash a dragon element attack which it is critical that you avoid as it will remove your weapons elemental abilities. Unlike other beasts that will try to flee once they have been injured the Deviljho will continue to fight regardless of how hurt it is so you need to be cautious even when you have heavily wounded the monster.

Deviljho will take massive damage when biting Baelzeguese (causes its scales to explode) so a good strategy you may want to consider employing is leading one into a battle against Deviljho to weaken the beast.
