The Anjanath is a fire-breathing brute wyvern that resembles a Tyrannosaurus Rex. This monster appears during the seventh assigned quest 'The Encroaching Anjanath' which you will have 50 minutes to complete. The reward you will recieve if you are victorious is 4,320 zenny. The Anjanath is the king of the Ancient Forest and you will find this beast on the northern part of the map, between sectors 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12.
Beating Anjanath
The Anjanath has two weak spots, these are the tail which can be severed and its head which is also its most dangerous part due to the creature having the ability to spit out fire. Only attack the head if you’re using a ranged weapon or the Anjanath has been knocked down. Most of the battle you will find yourself under the Anjanath between its feet trying to avoid being stomped on. This is not a bad position to be in because apart from that the beast will have difficulty attacking you. Anjanath is weak to the water element so look to utilize water-based weapons and attacks.
The key to defeating Anjanath is preparation, before you begin your hunt craft water-based weapons using parts from Jyuratodus whom you have already beaten. If you don't have this monsters parts you need to equip thunder and ice weapons to be able to deal decent damage. Also make sure you equip strong armour, shock traps, and flash pods which will be used to temporarily stun the creature.
When you battle the creature you need to keep an eye on its throat, if it begins to glow it indicates the creature is preparing to unleash a blast of flames from its mouth. Attacking the throat while it is preparing its fire-breathing attack will cause the Anjanath to overload and knock the monster back. Once you have managed to weaken the creature it will limp back to its den where it will try to sleep in an effort to recover, it is at this point that you will be able to defeat the monster by continually attacking it.
Anjanath are territorial monsters that roam and will attack any monsters in the area. A good strategy is use this to your advantage by luring other beasts over to the fight so the Anjanath turns its attention to the new threat and loses some health in the ensuing battle. Also, the ailments poison, sleep, paralysis and stun can be applied to the Anjanath.
