How to get the Tailraider Signal Gadget

A new Palico gadget has been added to the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion called the Trailraider Signal gadget. There is also a new Grimalkyne faction called the Boaboa which reside at Hoarfrost Reach, the new region in the Iceborn expansion and it is one of these native creatures that you can unlock for your Palico. One of your first priorities when you begin playing the Iceborne expansion should be to get the Tailraider Signal gadget. What makes this gadget so important is its ability to help with collectibles that are linked to trophies and achievements. This gadget also comes in useful when leveling up the Grimalkyne factions in each region for the Treasures and Lynian Research Requests. We have listed below in four steps the procedure you need to take to obtain this gadget.

Step 1:

The first thing you need to do in order to unlock the new tribe of Boaboa as your Grimalknes helpers is to unlock all the other Palico gadgets from the main game.

Step 2:

Talk to the Lynian Researcher in Seliana once you have managed to unlock all the other Palico Gadgets and he will tell you about the Boaboa tribe that reside in Hoarfrost (if at this point you have not completed the third story assignment on Master Rank which involves killing Viper Tobi-Kadachi the quest will not be available). Travel to Camp 1 and and talk to the Lynian Researcher again who will tell you more more about the Boaboa. He will basically tell you that the Boaboa are a tribe of hunters and to be aknowledged by them they must see you kill a large monster.

Step 3:

After talking to the Lynian Researcher go to the north of the camp, here you will be followed by furry creatures with harpoons which are Boaboa. While being followed and watched by these creatures you need to hunt a large monster and slay it. Once they have witnessed you killing the monster they will have you follow them into area 2 where you can grab a Wingdrake hide with your hook. Eventually you will reach area 17 where you go through a small cave into the furry creatures lair.

Step 4:

The leader of the Boaboa will then give you an optional quest for hunting a Tempered Beotodus. If you accept this quest members of the tribe will accompany you during the hunt and once the optional quest has been completed you will unlock a new Palico gadget called the Tailraider Signal. This gadget will let you place a smoke signal to call a Grimalkyne helper to your party. To call upon this helper you will need to playing Monster Hunter World: Iceborne in solo mode as all four party slots would be full already if you were playing co-op mode.
