How do I move a family into a new house? I want to build the 'family home' and move an existing family into it? Is that possible? If so, how?

It can be possile, I am doing this right now with my family. Firstly you will need to divorce the couple you want to move if they are married by "being rude" and "complaning" it will come up on there as split up or divorce.
Secondly buy the house and wait for it to finish buliding, after it is built you can move in one of the people from the family, then make the person go to their new house and the other members go to the house that you want to live there.
Make the family members "Good friends" and make sure that the person living in the house is asking then ask them to "Move in" and they should live there. If you get the problem that I did with the toddler or pre teen owning the other house, don't worry about it because that happened to me too. Just make sure the toddler or pre-teen is living with their parents and save the house for when they are older then they will be able to live by their self there.

If you Sims are married then divorce them and make them good friends them move one of the sims out then make the two sims build a relationship then move the other sim in .

Warning:If you Have Kid Who Was A Preteen Before you Moved He/She Might Be Lefted Behind.

Yes it will work for the entire family, infants included, if you choose RELOCATE HOUSEHOLD. As of 2017 it costs 8,000 to relocate a household.

You have to add doors
Guest answered:

You just have to go to the house you want to move the family into and then click on it (and it should have a little green house on it) and hit the button that says relocate existing sim and choose the family (oh,but make sure you have around 8,000 simloans per sim)

You can relocate a family , they all have to be at home in their oringal house doing nothing , then you can relocate

Guest answered:

You hit the add the house button and once the house you want is built you hit the house and hit move a sim house hold. I did it and it worked

Krait0101 answered:

Tap on the existing built house( no Sims of course) then find the option that says "RELOCATE HOUSEHOLD" instead of "RELOCATE EXISTING SIM", then tap on the family you want to move out of the old house and in to the new. AND THERE YOU GO A FAMILY MOVED SUCCESSFULLY... Just takes about 8,000 Simoleons. ENJOY YOUR NEW HOUSE

Guest answered:

In order to move a sim in The Sims Free-play, you must first build a new house. Choose an empty lot anywhere in your Sim Town, and click the blue icon of a house and a "+" sign. A list of house options with image-examples will pop up. Next, choose the type of house you want to build (keep in mind that Houses cost a lot of Simoleons, and the more buildings you have the more expensive they get). After buying your house, it will take a few, or many hours, (depending on your amount of buildings) for your house to finish building. No other houses can be build during this time.
When the construction of your new house is done, a new icon will take place: it should be green with an image of just a house. Tap on it. A list of house options will pop up, with different choices for your house's use. To add a new sim, tap on "Add New Sim". To move a sim to your new house from another house, tap "Relocate Existing Sim". Now your new house will act as a normal house, where your sim lives. Your old house will now have the same options a new house has, because no one currently lives there.
To move a household, follow the same steps as stated above. After the construction of your house is finished, click the green icon and choose the "Relocate Household" option, Which will move your family. This action takes 8,000 of your Simoleons. The faded squares containing an image of a family cannot be moved for unknown to me reasons- I have no idea what's behind this annoying sim-family-moving problem. My guess is because of married and engaged couples and how they settled there to have a family, and cannot move to a new house. There is a way though, to move a household, without the lose of the Sims' Children.
The first step is to choose the family you want to move ( 3-4 people with a married/engaged couple), and switch to one of the partners. Next, tap on who ever your sim is married/engaged to, and tap "Complain",or any of the negative interactions available, and have them do it only once. As soon as your Sims are done, the "Divorce" option will be available to you. Tap it. Now that your sims are divorced, they will still live in the same house, and are still a household due to the fact that they still live in the same house. Now go to your new house, and tap "Relocate Household". Tap on the same household you just divorced. All the family members will be moved. When you are finally situated, if you would like, you can rebuild the couples relationship and have them remarry. This way, your entire sim family can be moved with no actual separation.
If you are still having problems, and your household box is faded, tap on it; the game will tell you why. The main reason for this is players trying to move Sims and sim families when a sim in the household is busy- if so, the game will not let you move a family until everyone in the household is not busy. If non of your sims are busy, or your square is not faded, try simply tapping "Relocate Household". This is the simplest way you can move a sim family.

JUST TAP ON MOVE HOUSEHOLD when you go to add sim just scroll left and there will be one that says move sim and one that says "move household" tap on move house hold and you will be able to choose which family you would like to move (this doesn't move the house only family) this is a bit pricey $8000

Guest answered:

There is an easy way! Just make sure nobody is in the house you want to move into. Then you tap on the house and press what says “move household” when you do that it allows you to move a whole family! Hope this helps!
