Use the Right Car for the Race

Make sure you choose the best car you have for the type of terrain you will be racing on. For example, if it's a street race, you will be looking for a car that has a mix of acceleration and handling. If the race is off-road it is crucial that you use a vehicle that is capable of handling dirt roads. Luckily, Forza Horizon 5 recommends the best cars you have in your inventory for every race and these should be the only vehicles that you consider for that event.

Break Correctly when Cornering

In order to successfully take turns as fast as possible in Forza Horizon 5 it is crucial that you approach them correctly. This means making sure you use your brakes to control your speed as you approach corners, the faster you try to take them, the harder they will be to get around. The best way to ensure getting around a corner as quickly as possible is to follow the driving arrows. It is not necessary to follow the arrows exactly, just use them as a rough guide to help you know when to hit the brakes. You will know when you are breaking correctly at the right time because the arrows will change color.

Learn How to Drift

Knowing how to drift in Forza Horizon 5 will help you considerably when it comes to winning races as it will enable you to get around corners faster. An easy way tp drift is to keep the car in a low gear, keep your speed at a manageable pace, and use the e-brake. As you drift around the corner try to balance the throttle and pay attention to your steering. Too much throttle and the car will spin or run off the road, whereas too little, and it won't slide.

Hit XP Signs to Level Up Quicker

Scattered throughout Mexico are XP signs, and one of the best ways in which you can collect XP while driving in the various races is to hit these signs. You will typically find these XP signs just off the main road and whenever you ram your car through one you will gain XP. The amount you receive is determined by the value written on the sign. XP signs will appear on your minimap whenever you are nearby to one. Make sure you hit these signs as soon as you spot them, as they will help you level up quicker.

Skill Points Are Assigned Per Car

Skill Points in Forza Horizon 5 only apply to the vehicle you are using when you assign them. This means that once you have found a car that you like, you should invest your Skill Points into it instead of changing your rides often and having to unlock a whole new set of skills per car that you use.

Earn XP and New Cars by Exploring

Don't be afraid to explore your surroundings in Forza Horizon 5. There is plenty of content to discover, and the game will reward you with XP for exploring the map. Travelling across Mexico will also enable you to familiarize yourself with the different types of terrain you will encounter in races. Later in the game, exploring gives you the opportunity to complete Barn Find missions which will allow you to find new rides for your inventory

Fast Travel

In order to Fast Travel at the beginning of Forza Horizon 5 costs you credits. You can however lower the cost as you progress through the game by finding and ramming into Fast Travel signs with your car. These signs look similar to the XP signs and are typically found in harder-to-reach locations. Sometimes there will be a small puzzle attached to the Fast Travel sign which you will need to find the solve. Once you have saved up enough money you can purchase the Buenas Vistas house in the Baja region which will unlock the ability to Fast Travel to specific roads. This will also cost credits until you have found every Fast Travel sign.
