Laning Phase - Offlane

Added:

A proper offlane hero should be able to leech experience and get some last hits. However, this is not always the case. If the enemy supports are good at keeping the equilibrium to their side, it is possible for an offlane hero to get absolutely nothing. Thus, it is important to be able to disrupt this equilibrium or be able to transition toward the jungle.

There are a few ways of disrupting the creep equilibrium. The most basic of which is creep blocking. By delaying the wave from getting into the enemy’s lane their creeps slowly push toward the offlane tower. With this scenario, the offlaner can farm the creeps with little fear of getting killed in the process. Heroes like Earthshaker, Clockwork, and Furion also have skills that can block creeps, disrupting the equilibrium. Offlane heroes can also pull the large camp to divert the creeps so that the enemy creeps would go directly to the tower.

One risky move is to drag an entire creepwave back into your tower. This is done by going around the lane and intercepting the creep wave between the first and second tower. If you are not getting experience and the enemy safelane has little or no disables, then this can work.

Another way of getting experience is to go to the nearby large or medium camp and farm that camp and leave the offlane empty plus secure the offlane bounty rune. If the enemy team pushes the tower, go back to the tower to get experience and last hits. Though stealing the enemy’s safelane bounty rune is also possible, the risks are far too great as mid heroes, who would have higher levels, have easy access to the rune as well.

Offlaners can also request backup from support heroes when necessary. If the support and offlane can combo spells properly, they might be able to kill enemy supports, and possibly the enemy carry as well.
