Hero Role - 5 Position Support

The position 5 support is often the most noble and overlooked role. Position five roles have the least amount of farm priority and are required to purchase field items such as observer and sentry wards, Smoke of Deceit, and TP scrolls. If that’s not terrible enough, position 5 players are also sacrificial lambs in a way. If a carry gets to escape and the support dies in the process, it is still a win for the support. However, a 5 position support cannot afford to give away too many kills to the enemy heroes.

Position 5 supports are often played by heroes who can do a lot in the early game with very little farm and experience. In professional games, you would often see supports who are below level 5 even after 10 minutes of the game. In some cases, this is okay as long as they are able to take objectives. Exceptional 5 support role include Ogre Magi, Oracle, Vengeful Spirit, Earthshaker, and Lich. Supports with passive skill tree abilities that increases their gold per minute gain are also advisable.
