The Shield is vital, especially if you are a new player who has to try to stay out of harm's way while you build up your defences. You can see your current Shield status by looking to the right of the builder status on the resource bar. The time shown on the shield status bar is how long you have left until the Shield runs out. Basically, the Shield will guarantee protection of your village for the time indicated.
To get a Shield, you either buy one with your hard-earned/expensive Gems, or by receiving enough of a pounding for it to be triggered. Essentially, they don't want you to be wiped out with one attack, so the Shield will come on for damage-limitation purposes. You generally have to lose 40% or one star for this to happen. Your Shield will last between 12 and 16 hours, before you will need to have rebuilt sufficiently to survive attacks without the Shield.
There is a way to automatically disable your Shield too - if you attack another player in multiplayer. With every attack your shield is reduced by 3 hours. You can also manually remove your shield.

what is duration on one week shield which is bought using gems.. And what is that 35d written on the shield icon.
The 35d written on the shield is the cool down time so you can not buy that shield for 35 days after it ends.
How do i reactivate a disabled shield?

OK so if you attack while having a shield you lose the shield, but when you press attack there will be a notice that come up and say you will lose the shield that is just a reminder but you can say ok to it. In or war a shield with not be loss what so ever, think of you clan wars base as a whole other base, it doesn't affect your trophies, your resources, or your shield, or you active base either. If you want to save resources just leave your townhall far from its base, there are always trophy hunters looking for easy wins, so take advantage of that. At a level 12 gold collect every day 84,000 gold is collected coming from 5 for six of thoss its ranging between 400,000 to 500,000 a day. What I do is since I hate attacking I just receive the 500,000 everyday, I leave my townhall vulnerable for trophy hunters to get, they take I barely lose trophies, I get 12 hours of peace, once the 12 hours are up I simply make sure my townhall is on the outside and someone destroys it again, easy gold

Keep ur townhall outside to get destroyed to get a 12 hour free shield if u attack a village ur shield is lost only during clan wars people can attack u but it has nothing to do with ur village

If you attack anyone online you will loose any shield you have..you can however attack the goblins on th campain trail without losing ur shield...also you will not loose shield while you are attacking the otherf team in a war u are fighting
