II. Central Yharnam

Right after defeating the beast in iosefka’s clinic, you will be rewarded with your first Blood vial. After that you may proceed to explore the rest of the clinic. As you go around, you will get to collect another Blood Vial from a corpse leaning against a wall. Blood vials, in essence, restores your character’s HP.

When you’ve tired yourself out, you may head out to the now unlocked door that brings you to Central Yharnam.

From iosefka’s clinic, you may find a path under an arch which will lead you to Central Yharnam. In Central Yharnam you find a city in ruins with caskets laying around, broken carriages, and what seems to be the townspeople or Afflicted Yharnamites moving around the city as if looking for something. It is the night of the Hunt afterall.

These Yharnamites, who seem and act more like beasts, don’t wait around to give you the welcome you deserve—they immediately attack you with their pitchforks, their torches, their axes, their guns etc. You, of course, defend yourself from these aggressors and while you do, you may hear these Yharnamites saying things like; “This is all your fault!”—which makes you confirm your suspicion earlier that you are surely not welcomed in Yharnam.

Fighting these Yharnamites may not be an easy feat at first, but you will definitely get the hang of it later on. But if ever you indeed perish anywhere in the game, it is important to remember to go back to the area where you died to retrieve your Blood Echoes which are your experience points. Your Blood Echoes may sometimes be around the floor and calling out to you. At other times a Yharnamite, near the area where you died, picks them up. Finding the Yharnamite who holds your Blood Echoes is quite easy as evidenced by their glowing eyes. All you have to do is kill them again and then pick up your Blood Echoes.

After the arched pathway from the clinic, take a right which will lead u to a pathway where you will find a lever which will bring down a ladder. If you go up the ladder, your hunter will also chance upon a mysterious guy named Gilbert who speaks to you through his window. Gilbert says that he is a fellow outsider too and offers to help you with your quest. Gilbert also advices you to take a “swift exit” from Yharnam as the city, according to him, has nothing good to offer you. Then Gilbert suggests for you to proceed to the cathedral ward to know more about Blood Ministration.

Now that you have an objective, you may either spend time exploring the rest of Central Yharnam or you may head out to find the cathedral ward. If you decide to stay in Central Yharnam for a while, take the opportunity to farm for blood vials and to practice your moves and skills by defeating enemies in the area.

During this time, you may head back to the hunter’s Dream anytime. By this stage, the door atop the stairs is now opened and in there you will find the wheelchair-bound Gehrman, friend to Hunters, as he says. Gerhman says that he will assist you in everything you need. In the workshop is where you will find your storage space and a place where you may fortify or repair your Weapons by using something called Bloodstone. Bloodstone comes in various forms: Bloodstone Shards, Twin Bloodstone Shards, Bloostone Chunks, and Blood Rock. All these stones can be picked up by defeating enemies throughout the game and can also be found in different places.

So, at this point, it is best to take the time to level up your character as much as you can. So make your way back to Central Yharnman and beat the crap out of those foes.

If you follow the road from Gilbert’s place you will find yourself in an alley which will somewhat lead you to a plaza where Afflicted Yharnamites are burning something at the stake. Eliminate all of them here.
