The nightmare frontier begins with a tunnel full of graves. Upon exiting the tunnel, turn left and up the hill where you will find a corpse that will give you Madman's Knowledge. In this area, you may battle a Torch-Wielding Beast. Head down the path and turn left.

Continue on the path where you will find a lantern right beside a large stone. There will be two Deranged Hunters (one with an axe and one with a chain) who will give you Blood Dreg and Lead Elixir. If you continue on you may find a corpse in one of the small caves that will give you Madman's Knowledge. In another small cave, you will find another corpse that will give you a Blood Vial.

You may find a small tunnel leading to the other side. Once you exit it you may be greeted by a Giant Stone Man throwing boulders at you--they move real slow so just make sure you could get real close to them and then hit them with your charged attack. But what could also actually kill you are the boulders so dodge often and bring a lot of Blood Vials with. These big boys will drop Blood Stone Shards or Blood Vials sometimes. You may also try your best to sneak up on them.

Tip: It is impossible to get at these giants when all three of them are throwing you with boulders so make sure to take them out one at a time--starting with the one at the lowest level.

Behind the last giant as you go down the path, you may find a corpse that will give you Lead Elixir.

Enter a tunnel which will lead you to another part of the place. A large tombstone will fall as you step on it which may open a pathway or quicker access to other areas of the map. There will also be a corpse nearby that will give you Falling Lake while another corpse will grant you Clear Giant Sea.

To get to this part, upon exiting the tunnel in the beginning, turn left and up the hill. Then go straight until you find the tombstone that fell earlier. Turn right across the bridge where you may pick up Stunning Deep Blue Sea from one of the corpses.

As you go deeper into the tunnel, there will be more Tentacle Beasts ahead that will throw poison at you. Get messenger's Gift inside the tunnel past the glowing flowers.

As you head down a path downwards a cut scene will play where something will kick you onto the moldy lake where a Tentacle-Head Beasts are that will give you Lead Elixir. The lake is poisoned so better hurry and find dry ground.

Go back to where the poisoned lake is and kill all the monsters in the lake. Turn left into a tunnel that will lead you behind a Giant Boulder Beast. Go back to the lake and go straight and kill the Giant Boulder Beast right beside a Messenger's lantern. Exit the tunnel and kill the Frenzy-Inducing Beast, which may kill you instantly after putting your frenzy on full—so be sure to kill it right away. Inside, there will also be a corpse that will give you Quicksilver Bullets. While exploring on the side will reveal a corpse that will give you Frenzied Coldblood and another rewarding you with Madman

’s Knowledge.

Turn left downwards and go to the side of mountain and get a Lead Elixir from the corpse. Continue on downwards and towards a tower with an arched entrance.

This is where you will battle amygdala—similar to the beast that you can see clinging on to the Cathedral building. You may attack Amygdala from behind where its stomps won't get you. Be careful of the huge leaps it makes and watch out for the poison she spits. You may target its hind legs with your charged attack . Dodging and side steps are very useful too at this point. Hitting the head is best recommended so time your approach and watch out for the laser it shoots whenever you’re in front.

As the battle continues and as amygdala loses half of its HP, it may break two of its arms and use it as a weapon to swipe at you—thus, having a longer and wider reach. While Amygdala does this, you may choose to attack from behind while also taking note to attack its head still.

Once you’ve defeated amygdala, you will be rewarded with the Chalice of Ailing Loran. Activate the lantern in this area.
