04. The JSawyer Mod

Created by Josh Sawyer, who in addition to being a very talented coder also happened to be the Project Director and Lead Designer for Fallout: New Vegas, this is a mod for serious gamers.

You see, the mod that carries his name offers the players a massive difficulty fix that makes the game far more challenging. What are we talking about here?

Well, the mod basically alters the game structure so that the player character can carry less, earns less XP from combat, can be injured easier, and thrusts the normal daily activities like eating, drinking, and sleeping to a level more consistent with reality.

One of the mods in this package that we really liked and respected was his choice to make ammo actually weigh what ammo weighs. There is a reason why your typical soldier only carries a few hundred rounds of ammo you know.

The mod also alters the stats and condition of a wide selection of items in the game, the point to all this being that he wanted to make the game more realistic.

This is great for players who are into the challenge of realistic play - but BEFORE you run out there and apply this mod to your game, be warned: to work your game must have EVERY one of the official DLC installed.

03. The Weapons of the New Millenia

This one is more for the hardcore players than a mod you are likely to see in a Top Mods list for general gamers. The reason why? Because it is all about the hardware. That's right, this mod package is basically the sort of thing that the guys from Sons of Guns would find irresistible.

Brought to us by the Millenia Team - a group of pro 3D modelers - it includes a wide selection of real-world weapons that have been modeled for the game - including brand new sounds.

The collections include AK47s, FNFNCs and Bushmaster offerings, and the M37 Ithica to name a few. Ah heck, lets name some more! You will find the Uzi, the AK74, and even the Sten Mk II as well.

In the area of personal weapons, they have also added the Ka-Bar fighting knife which should make the Marines happy, and the legendary Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife (with the throwing variant) which was invented by William Fairbairn and Anthony Sykes, who were members of the Shanghai Municipal Police in 1941.

In the category of sidearms, the mod offers Beretta 92s,, Colt M1911s, HK's USP, the Colt Pocket 1849, and the venerable Smith & Wesson Model 10. If that is not enough they also added the Makarov and the TT Tokarev - both of which are very well known Russian sidearms.

For your tactical pleasure you get a selection of battle rifles like the M14, and Steyr AUG A1, and for bigger jobs the Pancor Jackhammer!

Now if you want a real treat, one of the unique weapons that is included in the pack is the MBAGyrojet, a weapon that fires small rockets - called micro-jets - that have very little recoil and are extremely accurate. And rare - the ammo for these costs over $100 per shot!
