Top 10 1st Generation Competitive Pokemon
Dragonite
Dragonite has always been one of the more popular Pokemon, and why not? Awesome design, and power to back the design. To this day, Dragonite is still one of the best Pokemon you can use.
Dragonite has an amazing attack stat. It also has pretty good defensive stats. Unfortunately, it has never had a good speed stat. Luckily it has Dragon Dance, which is really needed. It also has a great ability in Multiscale, which basically allows it a free move to start the match (unless you get the occasional Mamoswine).
Most Dragonite you see will be run in either two ways; both are obviously on the offensive side, and both are surprisingly effective.
The first is an all-out attack set (Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Fire Punch, Extreme Speed) while holding either the Leftovers or Life Orb. It's effective, and tough to beat.Another set is Weakness Policy Dragonite. The goal is to use Dragon Dance to increase your speed, hopefully baiting your opponent into using a super-effective move to activate the Weakness Policy boost. From there, you can sweep anything in your path.
Both are amazing sets, and both should be carefully prepared for.
Should you not be prepared, don't worry... The match will soon be over.

Please remember that this article focuses on these Pokemon during the Sixth Generation of the series, and these rankings are solely based upon personal opinion from numerous battle experiences. This article will also exclude Legendary Pokemon and Mega Evolution, since they're in a class all of their own.
Hey, great article. Just wondering if you have a top 10 list for each generation? And possibly a top 10 list overall, comparing the top 10 from each generation?

Ummmm... Where is Gengar? He's been in OU since RBY, and has always been a top tier threat with it's great movepool and beastly stats. Heck, even his Mega was banned into Ubers. Also, if we're talking Gen 6, Kangaskhan, Charizard, and Pidgeot deserve a spot.
Also, talking frailty as a fault of Alakazam, then instantly bring up Gyarados and Cloyster.
-_-
gyrados deserves #1. Everyone must have a gyrados as water type unless their starter is water type.
Not impressed much by the list....Gyarados at 10? Pretty sure it should be at least in the top 5. Ditto? Most. Predictable. Thing. Ever. Maybe it was cool before team previews, but now it's easily planned for during battle. And while cloyster is OK as a shell smash sweeper, I find omastar does a bit of a better job at doing so (better coverage movepool, doesn't get completely walled by steel type due to moves like scald/surf and earth power).
And the legends & megas technically aren't in a league of their own. Articuno and Moltres got demolished when gen 4 came around and introduced the mortal enemy of bird-kind, stealth rock. Of course, Mewtwo is a different story...
Fricking clefable #1
Gengar?

what about nidoqueen is she worth it
oh and for the record garados is sopposed to be on here its no surprise to anyone-.-
Eh, all you people do realize that this list IS about gen 1 pokemon, right? I see people mentioning gen 2, 3 and 4 pokemon and someone complaining it's too much gen 1. I suggest you guys read the title of the list first.
first off i dont agree with the person who posted this sure some pokemon here belong on here but some dont
Why you don't mention pikachu cause he is very, very a trillion times very courageous
because pikachu is garbage (esp in competitive)
Chansey can evolve into Blissy, high hp softboiled and can know moves like mega punch or hyper beam, but not even a mention to Garbachomp, Tyranitar or Metagross. This list is too biased by a G1 Trainer.
dude, read the title
No mention of Gengar or Starmie? Feel like someone slipped a bit here.
