Top 10 cancelled Video Games

03. Tiberium (EA LA / EA Games)

The thing about the Red Alert series is you are either a fan and love the games, or you don't. For those of us who really got into the RTS style of mechanics, and the idea of a first-person tactical shooter? Yeah we were totally ready for that!

Set in the Command & Conquer universe, Tiberium was going to put us into the role of a GDI Commando, and thanks to the official trailer and other information that was released about the game, it was pretty clear that while it was not exactly a role-playing game in any sense, there would be a definite character to the character we played. Certainly an identity.

The plot centered around a repeat invasion of Scrin, with our hero the protagonist doing his duty and bringing the battle to the enemy.

Tiberium was prematurely revealed when shots of the January 2008 issue of Game Informer were leaked, and then officially announced by EA just a day later. Prior to the announcement, the game had actually been in production for over two years, and word was that they were close to a Beta build at that time.

Sadly and despite massive desires on the part of the fanbase, the game was officially cancelled on September 30, 2008, with EA stating that the reason for the cancellation was down to the game failing to meet the quality standards for the EA Games label.

Maybe they were right... Maybe the game quality was simply not up the standards set of the series, but after revealing that it was on its way, and expounding upon the uber awesomeness of the first-person POV, losing it like that? Yeah, that sucked.
