5. Dead Rising 2

The Dead Rising series is perfect for wanting to bust up some zombies. Obviously the zombie apocalypse is not a laughing matter, but the humor present throughout the series really helps to make the horrors of zombies killing and devouring humans far less horrific and far more gratifying than The Walking Dead style apocalypse.

While it may make sense to recommend Dead Rising 3 over the second game, Dead Rising 2 is a bit more accessible to the general audience, since 3 is only available on the Xbox One while 2 is available on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It stars one Chuck Greene, a motocross contestant in a controversial zombie themed TV show. When the zombies held in a cage are let loose from their constraints (as is bound to happen in such scenarios), Chuck must survive the outbreak while making sure to get enough of the zombification suppressing Zombrex to keep his daughter Katey alive.

Dead Rising 2 offers a neat plot that really builds the world of the series more than the original, and the new system that involves combining weapons into absurd combinations and bowling over the crowds of zombies with. The Dead Rising games may not encapsulate the 'spirit' of Halloween as much as some of the other titles on this list, but that shouldn't stop you from having a fun old time beating up some zombies.
